Bet you do the same when you're valuating a part-ex!
I dont tend to do a lot of part ex as stick mainly with cheapies suitable for learner/first time drivers,
but I do buy a lot in from ebay and go on pics and description,90% of the time its ok but if I should get caught I take it on the chin and make the best of it
should I do a part ex I give it a quick once over and not with a microscopeIMOJACAR

I had my Peugeot up for sale for £1600 and was aiming to take £1400 for it.
First viewer came and viewed (Viewer A), offered £700I said thanks but not thanks and that I had someone else coming to view the next day.
The next day I got a call in the afternoon inquiring if the other viewer (Viewerhad bought it. I said no so Viewer A offered £650. Once again I told him where to get off!
A week later a really nice guy came to view. Didn't fault the car at all and offered me full asking price. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
Look guys, the thing is, if you advertise a car privately you are going to attract a proportion of plonkers, not maybe, but absolutely definately.
I must admit I find even the worst a whole load more palatable than your average car salesman.
But everyone has the right to deal with punters in their own way, and that includes telling them to !!!! off if they are taking the mick.
But to avoid;
State the condition of the car honestly, includeing the +s and the -s.
State if you are open to offers.
If you are selling at a fixed price make that very clear in the ad.
Price the goddam car realistically in the 1st place, if you over cook it, then you can expect the !!!!! when someones travelled to view.
Keep it friendly, they could come back latter:eek::eek:
And finally if you have a nice tasty motor for sale, get several folks arranged to view it at the same time;), ££££s inI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

On the flip side, I know of a trader who looks for certain niche models, people think they are not worth much unless they are enthusiasts. He proceeds to ring them up a few times from different phones and gets mates to do the same to drive the price down. Sends a few round to offer low prices and hopes the person will cave in eventually.
Quite often people will do. Salesman verses punter.
Utterly dispicable tactic.0 -
