I sold a Fiesta for a friend recently. The value of the car was around £2,500 according to adverts in Autotrader. So I pitched it up at £2,800 to allow some haggling.
The first guy who visited was a complete time waster. He pointed out every micro fault and scratches and told me how much it would cost to repair it - for instance a 1/2 inch scratch in the paintwork caused by my friends ring would mean the whole side would need respraying at a cost of £500. When he started it up he told me the water pump was iffy. It was a 5 year old car so although not pristine it was in very good condition. As he carried on I mentally calculated that if I sold it to him I would owe him money. He offered exactly half the asking price - £1,400!
In the end I told him time was up and the next guy was due anytime. The next guy bought it for the full asking price. Then a few days later Mr Timewaster called back to offer £1,600.The man without a signature.0 -

This thread is a perfect example of why people hate car dealers.
If you are buying a car you want the best deal possible. This means you ask and be cheeky otherwise you dont get.
Out of interest what is this car you are selling at £795 ?
Also are you one of these dealers that !!!!!!!! constantly and think everyone is stupid?
I bet you would mark down a trade in for scrates like these ones0 -
I think that if you advertise a car for sale you have to accept timewasters and imbeciles. In a perfect world you wouldn't get any but in our imperfect world that's what happens.
When I advertised my friends car for sale I got countless calls from those dodgy canvassers even though I put "No Canvassers." in all my adverts.
I also got 3 calls from cheeky shi'ite car dealers offering ridiculously low amounts too.The man without a signature.0 -

Moreover, I've yet to see a garage worker who doesn't look like a criminal who just had a day release from prison. :rotfl:Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Could it possibly be because many of your colleagues in the industry treat " punters " so badly?
My dear old Dad said to me; Son, you will always know when a car salesman is lying..... his lips will be moving..0
