ive seen both sides of it...time waster tyre kickers and liar dealers /sellers , traveled miles to view mint unmarked cars that turn out to be heaps
  • The timewasters of a certain type don't even get to view the car, my lovely can tell them a mile off even on the phone...not a girl to be trifled with by clever dickies.

They are the one's who come and view your decent car, test drive it, pick it to pieces, tell you they can buy the top of the range model 2 years newer with half the mileage for around a third less than you are asking (why they are wasting thei time looking at this one they never say)....then to top it off they proudly (!!!!!!) announce that they are checking the car out for their cousin who is probably residing at Her Maj's pleasure....at that point i have been known to explode.

The biggest time wasters are the ones who try to get the price down on the phone without viewing the car first (they make my blood boil), oh! and the ones who say they are coming to view and never turn up, total time wasters. In my opinion private sellers are worse for describing a car as mint when it's a total shed, most traders can't afford to mis-describe a car they are accountable by law. If they are selling a cheap run about that's usually exactly what it is.

  • i once borrowed a work van with a tow bar, a couple of mates and hired a car trailer for the weekend, after seeing a good advert and some mint looking pictures of a capri in macclesfield, and after being reassured by the seller the car was mint and well worth the journey as he was sure it was mint.

so off we went left glasgow early on saturday morning slowly towing a car trailer, eventually got there,we drove into an old mining village in a red white and blue van with a huge unmanouverable car trailer on the back of it to find almost every local to be of an apparently ethnic minority ( not today they werent) standing on every street corner and outside thier houses.
it was as if an alarm had gone off to alert them to white folk entering thier area, they were all out to see what was going on,we then saw a sorry looking capri in the driveway, thinking maybe that wasnt it,we thought well weve come this far, so we still chapped the door.
we then found out this was the capri i had seen in the pictures, the pictures must have been at least 8 years old, there wasnt one part of this capri hanging together properly, if we werent so outnumbered (and under powered as to our getaway vehicle) there could have been a right scene on the street, the seller even tried to convince me that the car was good by opening the door to unvail no steering column covers and every wire exposed and said "look the lights all work" i checked the front and found 1 full beam light working and 1 sidelight working. shocking thing was this had 10 months MOT.

wasnt a total waste,we stopped at blackpool and treated my mates to a go on the pepsi max and a few pints and good laugh upon reflection of our day.

My boss (at the time) drove about 30 mile to view a mint low mileage private car for sale, when he got there he asked for his petrol money back because the car was a completely mis-described load of rubbish, the bloke chased him down the street with a hammer for insulting his car. This was the end of his bright idea to buy cars private instead of auctions, total waste of the price of an autotrader magazine.

Because the poster referred to an "ethnic minority" on MSE....

Come to think of it though he could have meant white English?
