You cant get cashback on credit cards as far as I am aware.

Cheers......you learn something new each day :T
  • ShaunT,

if you're planning to use it in place of a debit card, don't forget to set up a direct debit to pay off the full balance. You can do this when you phone GE to confirm receipt of the card.

If you pay any interest at all it'll easily cancel out the benefits of the cashback!

I e-mailed GE about the cashback situation. Just heard that the credit will be applied to the September statement, so looks as though this pay-out is going to be at full 3% on all purchases THIS TIME.
I shall continue using this card as much as possible until they decide to reduce the cashback.

Do you mean the intention is to reduce the September bill by the cashback amount? That sounds preferable to sending a cheque (which is what they state on their website).

I thought they were supposed to be paying it by cheque. I've no objection to receiving at as a credit on my account - it just doesn't tally with what they said earlier.

I have had a GE Money Card for a few months now, and all is well. I pay off my balance in full every month. Due to my employer changing a payment date for salary I requested a change of date for my GE statement.
Application to change date was refused. Apparently they are unlike most other card companies, they don't have the IT equipment to change the dates of statements. So be sure to apply a few days before the day you want your statement to be issued as it will come on the anniversary of the opening of the account and cannot be changed.

I may be wrong, but I have a feeling that it can't be changed because everyone's statement date is the same! If so, it seems daft as they have to send out a load of statements at the same time. Also, it would mean all account enquiries would be made at roughly the same time.

Welliesorter, you are correct. I've emailed them quite a bit about this card and they have confirmed that all statement dates are set to the 17th.

With regards to the cashback, the reply I received states:

"We are paying the cash back now and it will be credited to your account and will shown your next statement."

which seems to agree with what they told redagila. We'll just have to wait and see...

Yes they are putting this on the statement as a credit amount, thus reducing our balance in September.
GE certainly do not seem to be very up to date with their systems - I believe they are the only c/card provider who, to date, cannot provide internet access to your account. So no surprise, they are unable to amend anything once the account is set up.
