My DH phoned to apply for this card today after reading Martin's recommendations and going to their website. On the phone he was told he couldn't apply for it as it has been withdrawn - he pointed out that he was looking at a web page that would let him apply and they said that would be removed soon. He applied online and has had an acknowledgement and a further email saying that a few more checks are required and will take 24 hours, so we'll see what happens. Hope he gets it as me cancelled our Tesco credit card today cos we were annoyed with them!"There's hard work. And there's not so hard work. I prefer not so hard work. But if you mix not so hard work with hard work it's harder than the not so hard work but not so hard as the hard work."

Could it be that they have failed to get the technology to work that they intended to use to separate petrol and grocery spend from other spend? This would explain them paying out 3% on ALL spend as reflected by many contributors on this forum, it would make it untenable for them to continue with the card and they could now be looking for a way out -- those of us who have the card may see changes announced to the card conditions soon.

1. If you have to contact GE it's an 0870 number - you can be kept waiting and It's quite expensive.
2. If you require a Chip & Signature Card then GE have no means of applying for one directly. This means that a credit search is done on your account prior to you being guaranteed the type of card you require.
Any thougths?0 -

I applied months ago for an everyday card and was told they needed to carry out a few checks and would get back to me. Never heard a word again, so I thought blow them, don't want their card now anyway.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0
