does the card offer protection for goods bought online? also if you send an item back to the retailer, does GE charge you a fee for sending the item back? i ask this because i was about to take out a nationwide credit card, but apparently you get charged £12 for returning an item! i could not believe this. surely, most cc suppliers do not do this?? thanks all :)
BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

I have never heard of a credit card company charging you for returning an item to a retailer and think that you may be mistaken. I had a rummage around the Nationwide web site and the only thing I could find related to charges is
    - £12 if you make your payment late or fail to make the minimum payment
    - £12 if you exceed your credit limit
    - £12 if a payment is returned unpaid.
All are related to the owner not making a successful payment ... I am more than happy for someone else to correct me. What might have happened is that someone bought something on their card and returned it but the refund had not come through on the card befotre the payment date. The customer decided they did not have to pay (because they had returned the item) however the automated systems at Nationwide could have applied a £12 charge for non-payment. From the customers point of view they may see this as being charged for returning an item. I would guess that a quick phone call would sort this one ouot.

If you have a problem with a credit card charge you must inform the credit card company and put the charge in 'dispute'

thanks for clearing this up ivan, very kind of you. dimwit that i am, i thought that the '£12 if a payment is returned unpaid' meant that if i returned an item i had bought, i would be charged £12 for doing this! that is indeed the reference i was referring to on the nationwide credit card pamphlet. thanks again, perhaps i will apply for the nationwide card after all. :)

Interesting to note that I seem unable to use this card to fund my PayPal account. Has anybody else successfully done this?

    Thanks

Hmmm, that's odd then. If I attempt to add mine, I get a message saying:

"This credit card has been refused by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was refused, please contact your credit card issuer's Customer Service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card."

Gave CS a call and they can see no reason why the card should have been refused and can only suggest trying again. Since I've already tried 3 times on 2 different days I have my doubts that that will work. Any ideas???

Has anyone received their statement yet (up to 17th August)? I'm still waiting and it's annoying we have no online access
