Got my GE card today, called to activate it. Filled up with £20 quids worth of diesel - card declined - nightmare
Called GE, debit of £20 showed on their system, but not on Sainsbury's where I got my fuel - must be Sainsbury's fault, as GE checked my card and OK'd it.
Back to Sainsburys for another 20 minutes sorted on the phone - so I thought. Wrong!
Sainsbury called me at home, several hours later. Back to Sainsburys again, had to sign a manual transaction form. Wait a minute I thought, GE said my account had been debited. Got a nice letter from Sainsburys saying if I'd been debited twice, they'd refund me.
Devils advocate. Sainsbury filling station used a card and swipe system. So I tried Sainsburys store who use Chip readers - Youve guessed, card declined. The same in Woolies.
Called the Call Centre yet again, very helpful. Yes we can see your card was checked here and it's OK, but because of the declined transactions it will be blocked tomorrow. The Call Centre Manager, very helpful is unblocking the card - I wonder if I'll ever be able to use it. We'll see.0 -
Got mine on 2 August and when I rang to activate I was told because I have requested a 2nd card that has not arrived so not activated yet mine may not work until the 2nd is activated
.
I used it today and although it did not work in the pin machine  they swiped it and it was accepted:T .Regards

Well, I got my first statement and the total cashback works out at 3%. I had three purchases and they were:
Petrol (Esso)
Parking Ticket (At least I got something back for that!)
Something from a joke shop
The statement doesn't seem to break the cashback down per spend.
Am planning on buying a laptop next month, so let's hope that earns the 3%!
Has anyone tried using their card for online purchases?0 -
I e-mailed GE today and have received a reply saying they are now expecting to have internet access to the account by the end of October. It will certainly be easier for me when it is in place and bring them into line with most other companies.0

I had a swipe for fule not go through. They cancelled it, tried again and it did. Then I got my bill and found I'd paid £45 twice! With 2 odd £8 refunds immediately after!!
Contacted GE who have written back to say they are sorting it. The petrol station said it wasnt their fault.....pain in the arrrse though.....:mad:0
