Just called customer services regarding my appeal.
The people who work in "appeals" cannot be contacted, so it sounds as though they sit in a darkened room with no phones and no email.
  • I can also confirm
    Waitrose 3%
    Iceland 3%
    Savacentre Petrol 3%
    Asda 3%
    and Butts Conveniance 3%

Got my card last week while on holiday... £6000 limit. Im single and in my low 30s btw if that helps work out who they are and arnt giving them to.. im pretty sure my credit limit is very good (never been in debt and have money saved)...however I dont own a house or have a mortage.

I called them to activate it and asked for them to take the entire amount out each month the guy did it on the phone without problems...hopefully that will be ok though.

Going to try to use it in ASDA tonight to get petrol from the Automatic pumps ..hope it works fine.

I have an excellent gredit rating but have still been refused a card. Could it be I am self-employed, a senior or divorced. Anyone know?

A lot of people (myslef included) with excellent credit ratings have been declined this card.
We can only speculate as to why we don't fit the customer profile that GE wants.

I keep reminding myslef that credit is a privilege and none of us are automatically entitled to it, but it's annoying when you don't know why you've been declined.

I have appealed (3 weeks ago) but like many others have heard nothing.
There is no way to contact their appeals department.

It's a bit annoying but to be honest I don't think many people are expecting it to last very long.

    ok quick update.

ASDA automatic Petrol pumps (the fast track ones) do not work with this card. This is the new kind which needs you to enter the pin number. Someone else mentioned this before but I wanted to be 100% sure and check.

You dont even get a chance to enter anything into the machine it just spits it backout and says go to the kiosk.

I had to use the other way however the lady at the kiosk didnt know why it didnt work as it worked for her first go without issue.

Anyway for the hassle of not using the fast ones and waiting a bit longer i think it worth it to save £1.50 ish.

btw i remeber Martin saying that wheny you fill up with petrol not to keep topping up as it goes down some overflow pipe in the pump. So people topping up to the next pound are wasting fuel / money or not? Just curious.

No overflow back into the pump. Once the fuel gets past the valve in the handle, it's yours unless you put it on the ground. The real problem with keeping on filling after the click, is the cars tank has an expansion area, for when the fuel gest hot. If you overfill, then this can't cope and your expensive fuel ends up on the road.

BTW, it always makes me smile when I see people trying to drain the felu out of the hose at a pump. The valve is at the end in the tank, so the only thing to drain is the nozzle.

This doesn't make sense, do you mean the valve is near the nozzle or have I misunderstood? Oh wait, I see by 'the end in the tank' you mean the 'end in the car' I was reading the tank to mean the stations tank!

So do you know generally how much you have "spare" before this happens? For example if im erm 33 pence into the next pound will trying to get to the next pound be stupid because ill lose half of it on the floor?

or is this all totally on the car you have and no "rough" estimate possible?

    thanks
