The US charges UK citizens (and others) a fee on entry. We should charge US citizens the same. It would defray the costs involved in running the UK Border Agency. If Argentina, Chile and Australia, amongst others, can do it, so can we. As with extradition, the 'Special Relationship' is a little one-sided.digital0

Although appliances have to display their energy rating - it actually doesnt mean that much to consumers other than providing a comparator i.e. 'A' rating or 'B' rating.
If manufacturers were also required to provide actual examples of actual running costs, it would help consumers make a more informed choice. They would then know for example that X manufacturer's tumble dryer would on average cost £5 per hour to run and they should quote a typical tariff so customers could check. With energy bills so high at the moment this would be an invaluable source of information for consumers and help them understand how these appliance contribute to their energy costs each month.0 -
Normal personal tax allowance £6475 - could be £9490 for 65+, but £1 loss for every extra £2 income over £21.8k- 50% rate! - why? - we're not bankers with large bonuses!
Try £1 lost for every £3 extra income?
Or more generous!0 -
With The People's Supermarket currently being in the news and the PM recently visiting, this cause has highlighted the criminal waste that goes on daily by supermarkets dumping huge amounts of food. If these supermarkets were charged a govt subsidy for every tonne of food waste, this would at the very least help to reduce our deficit but may also make them think more creatively about what they can do to reduce this waste.0

Could the government provide a discount on road duty for those haulage firms who only used the motorway at night and not at peak times. This would provide a boost to our industries as well as helping to reduce the congestion on our motorways at peak times.0

If Cameron wants more of us to do voluntary work, what happens to the people who are doing the jobs and getting paid minimum wage. Do they lose their job on Friday and then start doing same job on the Monday on a voluntary basis and not get paid. ie park rangers etc.0

Mr Cameron, please get every VICTIM in Britain to sign a petition and send it to the Court of Human Rights asking where their human rights are. Add that every victim will also like to sue this same court for discriminating against them. We will soon see what happens.0

Jobseekers who want to work
Jobseekers working parttime (up to 16hrs) only receive £5 over their normal payment. Declaring work should result in deduction of normal payment received but letter comes to say overpayment made and declared amount has to be repaid to Social Security. Raise amount .. encourage work? Deduct at source .. save money on paperwork?0 -
Cold weather payments
Jobseekers should be eligible for Cold Weather payment regardless of whether they are on Earnings related benefits or not. We did not get it for this reason. Does not seem fair as we got as cold too but couldn't afford to heat house during subzero temperatures. Fairness in this please.0
