  • Too many retailers are able to advertise goods as being, for example, 'half-price' by simply raising the usual retail price for a month and then halving it again.

End this, by forcing retailers to show the 'was' price as something like the average price charged in the previous six months.
  • Increase the age limit for credit products from 18 to 21. Many 18 year olds lack sufficient financial awareness and fall into a debt spiral without understanding the consequences in later life.

  • Consumers should understand when they buy an item from a shop the contract is between the shop and you.

This means that the assocaited obligations apply to the contract i.e. the shop and consumer have the obligations including the sales of goods and sevices act.

Many shops will try direct you to deal direct with manufacturers for faulty goods. They have the obligation make them do the leg work.
  • Many gift cards, particularly those from shopping centres, have an expiry date applied. If you purchase a gift card and it is not used by the expiry date you effectively lose your money. Gift cards should not have an expiry date or should have a process to be renewed.

Shareholders are screwing companies for money who ultimately pass the cost to the customer, but pay no tax on their dividend income.

This would be a fairer way to increase government income.
  • Fix house prices & rent prices according to quality of build and quality of life in the property.
    Not according to size.
Land price should not be affected

This would ease the movement of families as they grow and shrink.
It would also reduce the number of 'too small' or 'poorly built' properties.

    They are already taxed.

Has anyone noticed that if you get a non-standard mail delivery (such as a birthday or christmas card), the Post Office charges you. If you're not at home when it is delivered, they take it back to the depot and you have to pay for re-delivery or collect it yourself. Is it beyond the wit of the Post Office to communicate this to its customers when they post their mail? Or is it yet another rip-off.

I like this. Fitting a gauge to the slots in post boxes would be quite simple but printing standard or large on all cards and/or envelopes may be a cheaper solution.

If I get a card that needs an excess paying, I let Royal Mail keep it.

Clarify what credit check a recruitment agency is allowed to do on a jobseeker.

Are recruiters allowed to run credit checks on job applicants?
Does giving them your address and DoB constitute permission for this?
What, on a credit record, precludes one from getting a job?
  • Free text message alerts for all bank accounts

All types of bank accounts to offer a free text messaging service that sends a text every time a credit or debit has been made to your account. This will help recognise 'identity theft' and fraudulent transactions quickly allowing individuals to take action and stop money being stolen.
