  • Free text message alerts for all bank accounts

All types of bank accounts to offer a free text messaging service that sends a text every time a credit or debit has been made to your account. This will help recognise 'identity theft' and fraudulent transactions quickly allowing individuals to take action and stop money being stolen.
I dont agree with steady hi jacking of my private account. their aim is to stop statements, overdraughts etc and people running up bills.

I object to the steady and stealthy way all the utility companies and also some businesses, are gradually taking over use of our privately contracted mobile phones to remind us to read meters etc.

I assume this is referring to SMS messages and the like.

Don't give them your mobile number. Problem solved.
If you've already given it to them, call them and say you have sold the phone to someone else (they wont know if it's pre pay or contract, and with pre pay the number goes with the phone) so please never contact it again as they will be violating privacy.

Issue cautions for first instances of minor traffic violations

Normally law abiding and fair minded people who make a mistake like driving in bus lane at wrong time of day or stopping in yellow box junction or minor breaches of the speed limit get a hefty £120 fine. This is unfair when far more serious criminal offences are often dealt with by a caution. It breeds contempt for the law and a desire for revenge against the state that's out to get us.

First time minor traffic offences should be dealt with by a letter to the driver - most people are law abiding and will be chastened and will not repeat the offence.

All companies that acquire information on persons should provide that information for free and within 48 hours (working days).
How can organizations justify generating information on poeple without their knowledge and then hold them hostage to it unless you pay to see it to correct it? This is unreasonable.

Yes, in the same way that Income Tax was introduced to pay for the Napoleonic Wars.

And like how the 17.5% VAT was introduced to pay for the Poll Tax mess and never dropped again. (Until Labour did that special year to 15% to boost the economy.)
  • The price of a pint of shandy in a pub is the same as the price of a full pint even though you can buy 2L of lemonade at a supermarket for 15p. If the price of shandies was not inflated there may be less drink driving.
  • 'Cheap flights' suddeningly become very expensive with unclear extra charges, e.g. £18 transaction fee when I booked flights. £32 of plane tickets turned into over £160, even though I didn't buy any luggage allowance (just using hand luggage).
Plane companies should advertise the price of the ticket including taxes and other charges - just like coach and train companies.

Stop higher costs for pre-pay meters.
The poorest should not have to pay more for gas & electric, when the company is benefiting from upfront payment. Prepay should be charged at the lowest rate the supplier offers to other customers.

    Means-test the TV licence fee

Means-test the TV licence fee and charge a variable rate depending on household income as currently its a huge payment for those on low incomes

Double council tax on empty second (&third etc) homes

Discourage people from having empty second homes while others are homeless by charging double council tax(currently its half). This should not apply to homes which are rented out & lived in.
