Nooooo! Selling social housing removes that property from the housing available to those who need it FOREVER. Why would this stimulate the housing market?? They would not be moving home, just buying where they live now. The only market it would stimulate is the mortgage market - and aren't they all rich enough???????? :eek:0 -
Those convicted of criminal offences go through a period of time as prescribed by the rehabilitation of offenders act after which the conviction is "spent" and need not be disclosed even if asked.
Bankrupts however have no such rehabilitation and are excluded by Insurers and Lenders (incl for Secured Mortgages) for LIFE by being asked "have you EVER been declared bankrupt".
As a Bankruptcy order stays on your credit file for 6 years it would follow that Insurers and Lenders a) can check the information for themselves during this time and b) can ask the question "are you now or have you been in the last 6 years the subject of a bankruptcy order".
This gives an automatic rehabilitation after 6 years (which still puts it on a par with a 6 month prison sentence).0 -
All Highways authorities own the public roads. Why not make all vehicle parking on public roads chargeable and to increase road safety at same time reduce vehicle parking on highways. All such parking should be disallowed unless expressly permitted rather than the other way around. Also enable any house owner to rent out their driveway/car space free of all taxes0

All those who indulge in certain hazardous recreational pursuits (hang gliding, potholing, cave diving, sea diving, mountaineering etc etc) should be required to have full insurance to cover full "rescue" costs and medical expenses which presently fall on the public purse. Such costs/expenses should be recoverable from someone who failed to be insured.0

Make asthma inhalers free, and/or available over the counter at cost.
Some people with other ailments can receive their medication for free, yet people with life threatening asthma, have to pay for their treatment.
And why is it, you can buy certain tablets over the counter that when overdosed could kill you, yet you cannot obtain an asthma inhaler over the counter which could save your life!0 -
Don't allow companies to withhold their telephone number when cold calling.
I'm fed up with companies calling, their number is marked as WithHeld and when you answer, there's a few seconds delay before it connects to an operator that you didn't request!!! (if I was ringing them, I'd be in a queue for 10 minutes).0 -
I would like to propose that all Civil / Public Servants should be on regional pay. This would give the southern Civil / Public Servants a better standard of living.0

Please look at Police pay. They are given huge rewards if called in on short notice overtime (less than 2 weeks I think) this is
ridiculous. No other profession I know has this.
I have know some MOD Constables,on the maxium increment earning in excess of £50,000 (Fifty Thousand) P.A.0 -
Charge everyone for food in hospital!! We would have to pay to
eat at home so why get it free in hospital? Think how much money
could be collected for better equipment/ doctors etc. Even just £3
per day! Maybe even some left for better education as well.:T0 -
i was once a single parent, not wanting to give up my job as advised by the DHSS, all i needed was a nursery place so i could carry on working. These days they seem to have to much cash to spend on cigarettes, designer clothes and mobile phones, so where is the need to get a job?
swap the cash for nursery vouchers.0
