  • Scrap the current unemployment benefit
Pay unemployment benefit by hiring people to put back into the community

Minimum input should be 6hrs/day 3 days a week = Benefit

    6hrs/day 4 days a week = 1.5 X Benefit

    6hrs/day 5 days a week = 2 X Benefit

Benefit should only be paid for a maximum of 12 months
  • Here is the 50 word suggestion.

"It should be illegal for any UK based financial institution to refuse to open an account for any British Citizen resident in the European Economic Area on the basis of non-residence in the UK.
The banks impose this restriction giving problems for expatriate pensioners dependent on income in sterling."
  • Make council tax fairer

Why should I have to pay more than people in other parts of the country?
It should be the same rate throughout the country

  • Generate revenue from non-productive financial activity.
Apply 0.5% tax on any currency exchange transaction (including options purchase) over a value of £1,000 or any combination of exchanges above the value of £1,000 in any 24 hour period. Tax levied at the time of transaction.

This is not a good idea for the 400,000 pensioners who have retired to live in France, Spain, Germany and other EU countries. Their sterling income has already dropped by 20% because of the banking crisis and fall in the £ sterling. To extract more as a tax on exchange into euros is far from helpful.
  • To prevent retailers misleading customers about their statutory rights under The Sale of Goods Acts when returning faulty goods- all businesses must display in a readily visible and standard format -The main provisions of the Acts and that any warranty provided is in addition to those rights.
  • Set a benefit cap so the total income of a household where occupants do not work (irrespective of number of children, size of house etc.) can not exceed the income (after taxes) of a household with 2 adults working full time on minimum wage.

Experian have reduced my credit score to” Very Poor” because of outstanding credit cards. I have historical 2.9% and 3.9% for-life rates, - cheaper than my mortgage - they make financial sense. My assets cover balances several times (not considered), my income easily covers repayments (not considered), I have 25+ years squeaky-clean history, yet they say I’m “VERY LIKELY TO DEFAULT”. This is rubbish and the facts say otherwise. I can’t get credit, it’s doing me financial harm, yet I can do nothing except repay my cheap finance. Can’t this abuse of their power be stopped?

Let me just clarify this for you. The score you refer to is just a guide for you, to help you understand how your credit report might affect any credit application you make. Importantly, however, lenders do not see this score, so it is certainly not doing you any financial harm. They calculate their own scores based on their own criteria and factoring in other data such as that you provide on application form. I think we make this very clear on the website.

Packaging today is ridiculous and getting harder to open anything. Could packaging be restricted to that necessary for the product to survive the trip home thus saving on recycling, waste disposal and my nerves.
Absolutely - excess packaging is for marketing purposes, not function. Consumers don't want it, but pay for it in the product costs and then councils/consumers pay again to recycle. A two-pronged approach is needed - consumers must recyle, but also manufacturers must reduce the waste problem at source, so the excess packaging is never created. Excess packagers should pay a recycling levy. Councils should get this money, for recycling costs, and reduce council tax to consumers by the same amount.
  • If there is any money left in any public sector budgets there is a rush to spend it before end March, often on unnecessary items just to use the budget up. Allowing underspend or not penalising the subsequent years budget if underspend has occurred would save a considerable amount.
