MPs should not be attracted to Ministerial positions because of the lucrative salaries on offer: Government Ministers should get only a marginal increase (say 10-20%) on the standard MP salary. Similarly the Prime Minister.

Split Sky TV into two separate companies: one providing the satellite TV infrastructure (basically the satellites themselves), and one providing satellite TV services (ie from whom the consumer buys his satellite TV package). This will enable a competitive market instead of the extant monopoly.

All those MPs who today voted for the cap on student tuition fees to be raised - having themselves already benefited from a free university education - should have to pay retrospective fees for their education in full at the maximum fee level, ie £27,000+

Provide dedicated accommodation close to Parliament for all MPs, thereby eradicating all the problems (and bureaucracy!) associated with MPs needing to work in two separate locations.

Banks bailed out by the public tax funds,
yet they continue to increase borrowing making people pay twice for their debt.

The following bands should be implemented to all borrowing:-

    Mortgages - 2-5.5%
    Loans - 6-9%
    Credit cards - 9-15%

Competition will still be available within the banding using the current credit rating system.

Ditch the Television Licence and simply provide the funding from general taxation, thereby saving considerable amounts fruitlessly spent processing it, looking for evaders, prosecuting them, advertising the need to have a licence, etc, etc, etc.

Share the Television Licence Fee: half goes to the current recipients (BBC, etc), the other half to the commercial channels. Then require the commercial channels to give half of their advertising revenue to the current licence fee recipients. This will increases financial stability for them and foster co-opetition.

Require all manufacturers of digital television boxes (Freeview receivers, Freeview recorders, Sky+ boxes, etc) to design their devices to have low power consumption when placed in standby mode. This could reduce the national power consumption significantly!

For electrical devices (eg. computers, televisions - not heating appliances like kettles, ovens, etc) tax them based on their power consumption, thereby encouraging companies to concentrate on optimising the energy efficiency of their products.
