  • I know of a family with 7 children. Mum dose't work and dad refuses to work more than 16 hours a week because he knows if he did they would loose money!
He knows he can't earn enough to look after them, so why the hell did they have so many!!???
  • Company complaints policies are currently designed to delay & increase the difficulty of obtaining resolutions. BIS & OFT should develop a code of conduct, using a central UK complaints portal placing received funds in an OFT escrow account until the complaint is dealt with. Companies will improve the process if their cashflow depends on it.
  • Make it mandatory for the energy companies to read meters every quarter. If access can not be gained then an estimated reading should only be allowed on a single occasion between actual readings. The company should be tasked with making specific contact with the user to enable readings.
  • Restrict charges issued by private parking companies to a reasonable level eg a generous £2 per hour + £10 administration charge.
Require private parking charge notices to contain standard information in large letters such as:
"This is a parking charge notice issued by a private parking company. It is not an officially issued Fixed Penalty Notice. It has been sent to you as the registered keeper of the vehicle. If you were not driving the vehicle at the time the charge was incurred, you are not obliged to pay, nor are you obliged to disclose the driver's identity to us"

Change building regulations so that all new houses built have Scandanavian standards of energy efficiency such as triple glazing, thick loft and cavity wall insulation and draught proofing. This would cost very little at the construction stage but save a lot of money and energy over a property's lifetime.
Put solar panels on them as well!
  • Stop penalising, through additional road tax, those who use/need 4wd vehicles. Apart from the Chelsea tractors which are what politicians assume most people ( in London! ) have, the vast majority use 4wd's legitimately as a necessity because of their job/location. They are currently keeping the country going during this cold spell. Stop victimising them!!!
Also drivers of vans! My husband uses a small van for work, he has to provide and carry his own tools. Too heavy for a car, but we pay a higher rate of road tax. Load carrying vehicles need a bigger engine to pull the load. A smaller engine would use more fuel and do less MPG because it would have to work harder. Less road tax, but also less efficient (and green).
  • Charge everyone for food in hospital!! We would have to pay to

eat at home so why get it free in hospital? Think how much money

could be collected for better equipment/ doctors etc. Even just £3

per day! Maybe even some left for better education as well.:T
  • Pensions: currently, when you die the money in your pension pot goes to the company providing it. Change the law so that it can be bequethed - not as cash to your heirs - but to their pension pot(s) and you could transform pension provision.

Carers cant live on £53 a week!

We work 24/7 no holidays or breaks & we get less than the dole money for looking after some one & saving the government £68 billion a year!
And if you do get some free time and manage to find a little job you are limited on how much you can earn and your carers allowance is counted as taxable income!
