hi there if your present supplier won't replace your prepayment meter without a charge i would advise telling them you will move to a supplier who will. Which is, in my experience a straightforward option especially if you inherited the meter, futhermore the only reason any company can install these meters is if you have failed to pay your energy accounts within agreed timescales or are in serious arrears (most companies in my experience are more than happy to take on a new account but ensure you get confirmation they will only get the business if they will change your meter) hope this helps. i used to sell energy and have agreed to have customers meters changed countless timegeneral_dogsbody wrote: »Don't lock consumers into prepayment meters
I am unable to switch to many of the cheapest online fuel tariffs as I cannot afford the circa £50 upfront payment that fuel suppliers require to replace my inherited prepayment meter. Ironically I cannot afford to move to a tariff that could save me up to £300 a year.
There should only be a charge for customers who had the prepayment meters put in in the first place.0 -
Look at the USA system. An offer is accepted. You each have 3 day lawyer review, then 10% deposit paid. Then surveys done. Necessary work comes off price of house or work is done. Then when funds, searches etc.done transaction completes. No gazumping. No wasted fees.0

Change the benefit system to top-up and incentive. Eg, if someone is receiving £12,000 on total benefits and is offered a job for £9,000, they could receive top-up benefits of £4,000. Run it via the PAYE system so that if their wage increases, the benefits decrease.0

Recruitment agents need regulating to stop tricks like advertising jobs that don't exist to harvest CVs. They shouldn't be allowed to advertise jobs unless instructed by the employer. This stops you getting the job you chose, you end up with the job they can get for you.
Building on the above, all unemployed should be registered by NI number to one national job site where all jobs must be advertised. Applications, interviews etc.. can all be tracked from start to employment. It will save so much time and money, once implemented.0 -
over 1 million cars are uninsured ,when someone is caught without insurance car is confiscated and if the owner fails to insure it (police) sell the car!.Why don't they provide this money to victims of uninsured drivers instead of them having to pay out and pay higher premiums0

Stop councils doing jobs they are not obliged to do. These are rarely fully costed against the private sector (think of the staff pension commitments for years, office accommodation, sickness cover, etc. etc.). Its simply individuals empire building with our tax.0

To add to post number 7 on this thread:
In addition to making interest rates visible for all your accounts on your online banking personal page, printed bank statements should have the applicable interest rate for that account at the statement date clearly shown. I am sick of ringing my bank to check this information.:money: Dedicated disciple of MoneySavingExpert.com and Savvy MoneySaver :A

The debt collection agencies in this country are out of control, regularly breaking the law with little or no regulation. Please license them and close the worst offenders down.0
