  • The government should make the banks help people to get out of debt by offering consolidation loans. Credit card debts of £25,000 are costing me £1,000 a month with minimum repayments and nearly the same is being added on in interest monthly, yet if I took out a loan for 25,000 I would pay around half this amount and be debt free in 5 years without the need for bankruptcy or an IVA as I want to pay it
  • Utility companies should be banned for charging pre payment meter customers inflated standard day charges and unit prices for energy. Costs should be the same as those on direct debit 'fair priced'deals.

It should be set by the Government, rather than each Council. In London travel is free for over 60s but in Kent we have no travel concessions at all. Please make it fair for everyone.
My elderly mother lives in Thanet, East Kent and has an 'over 60's ' bus pass allowing her free travel within Thanet. This starts at 9 am, unlike mine (Cheshire) which is not available until 9.30! Suggest you contact your council asap.
  • look again at VAT excemptions. All saftey wear should be zero rated.
All Cycling/Running etc (things that make us healthier) should be Zero rated. I am sure peoiple can think of more.
  • Thousands of foreign lorries and cars drive on our motorways causing congestion and damage to the roads. Charging them to drive on the motorways would go a long way towards funding repairs and new roads.

European countries charge to drive on their roads so this shouldn't cause too much angst to foreign visitors.

The scheme could be easily run by the ferry/train companies so no infrastructure costs necessary.

Needless to say if you have a valid UK tax disk you will be exempt from this levy.
  • Topical at the moment, tuition fees are big in the news. I think students should pay to enhance their education however, we should look at some of the courses which are on offer.

If a profession is short of manpower such as nurses, doctors & IT Consultants the courses should be free. Courses which are over subscirbed such as Media studies, sociology, Drama etc should be priced at a higher rate. This would reduce the number of candidates studying for skills which are not needed in this country and reduce the amount of foreign candidates being brought in to carry out the professions where we have a short fall, thus providing massive savings and a fairer system.

I have a suggestion for saving the NHS and the taxpayer £1000's and lost personal information by simply joining an online data www. site called childhealthuk which is a co.uk site, this site will revolutionise the NHS as it stores up to date office addresses which are used by NHS staff.

Please look at this site and forward it on to the big 3.

    Many thanks

Combine national insurance with income tax. It all ends up in the same pot anyway, and it would save both the government and the individual (especially if self employed) a lot of administrative work.
  • If ALL businesses were registered for VAT, then we would be able to reduce the % of VAT charged. Also this puts ALL Business on a level playing field when customers are shopping around. Reducing the VAT % may well encourage people to spend more and help the econemy.
  • Bank overdraft charges should never be more than the amount overdrawn.
