At present the more effort you make to take care of yourself and your finances the less help you get. Make no effort and the State cares for you.
The higher your wage, the more tax and NI you pay yet you are penalised - ie no help from the state when you need it, housing costs, council tax, prescriptions, pension credit, etc etc0 -
Resolve this anomaly with men's retirement age immediately.
Women have always contributed five years LESS to their retirement pot and on average live five years MORE than men to enjoy the same basic state pension. In addition they often take career breaks and are still demanding the same pension.
This is outrageous discrimination toward men.0 -
We currently pay Excise Duty of £0.5895p per litre of petrol and diesel.
On top of this we pay 20% VAT ie another £0.1179p VAT on the excise duty alone.
VAT on the fuel is acceptable but VAT on the duty is double taxation .
Additionally we pay for the fuel with income tax paid money so this triple taxation on a basic commodity is daylight robbery.0 -
Too much left to trust! Check the hours and pay received, often does not tally. Get Limited Company Accountant to verify wages and hours worked, or Boss if not limited company.0

Give the public a vote on EU membership & pull out if the vote goes that way. Use the money saved to reduce fuel tax and duty. Simple really! £48 million a day reported to EU can be spent to reduce the fuel burden on households here.0

All school leavers without job, course, apprenticeship etc; could form a land army and work wherever needed, for example, road repairs, under supervision of course. Set-up like the army, living in barracks [plenty of empty property to utilise], all found and receive £30 per week the same as students do. They would gain life and work skills and contribute to the community, saving goverment spend on benefits. They would also, under correct guidance, become better citizens, with the added bonus of giving them something to do, keeping them out of trouble.0

INCENTIVE FOR ENERGY REDUCTION
To encourage users to save household energy, maybe a scheme whereby anyone who can document (with bills, etc) reduced consumption over a year, relative to previous year or average period, would get an extra reward - some kind of matching or pro rata amount. Short-term, I know, but it would help to ingrain better habits.0 -
Many restaurants now charge an automatic x% (where x=15, often), calling it "discretionary" or "optional". But try getting it removed from the bill! This practice should be outlawed, and tips made truly voluntary. In any case, why should we pay service on the VAT element of the bill?0

The problem is that people do not understand weights and sizes of food portions. Most people eat cereals each day and they generally empty the contents directly into their breakfast bowl and eat too much. Food manufacturers should put plastic cups in packets of cereals eg Daddy Bear, Mummy Bear and Baby Bear. These plastic cups could be colour coordinated showing correct portions per person per serving.0

Excellent idea. Tips should be discarded now that VAT is 20%.0
