Is it on the grout or the silicon run around the top of the bath.

If it is the silicon I would rip it out and renew it - I have never been able to remove the black marks from this as they seem to be 'in' the silicon.

If its the grout I used to use an old toothbrush with bleach but dont over scrub as you will wear the grout away.

Essex girl you are right! it is around the silicon, top of bath. The windows are opened all day in this house as I work from home, so lots of fresh air!
I will try teatree as daughter uses a lot of it! Next buy a lemmon! then if all fails renew the silicon.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

Got to rip it out I am afraid, you can never get rid of it once its there.

Mildew only grows where its cold & wet so its sometimes better to open the bathroom door instead of the window, warm & wet doesnt do it so much. I noticed this when we didnt have a bathroom door for two years ( OH takes his own sweet time over home improvements) but I had it confirmedby the building services director at work, who has to deal with that sort of thing on 5000 properties.

    Just a reminder

If you renew the silicon remember to do it when the bath is full of water.

    Good Luck

I would dissolve a teaspoon of Stardrops in a warm bucket of water and wet the microfibre cloth with the Stardrops water and wipe clean surfaces. If there is anything stubborn, get a washing up sponge, wet it with a bit of the Stardrops water and scrub away.

Next time I want to clean something I'm going to have to do some research first I thinks!:D

But while I'm on the subject of cleaning what is best way to clean the following:
    - lino tiles
    - laminate flooring
    - cream leather suite
    - carpets
    - mirrors

I'm on a bit of an urgent cleaning spree because I've not been able to get motivated and in-laws are coming over to stay very very soon!

    Any help gratefully received MC

The trouble with visitor blitz cleaning is where to start.
I pick up in every room that will be seen, then give the bathroom and kitchen a good soaking with my cleaning fluid while I get the hoover round, then back and clean off the bathroom and kitchen.
Major area are the loo and hand basin , the hob, worktops and kitchen sink.
Then clean the kitchen and bathroom floors. You can bundle clutter into a box or basket and cover with a throw.
We just shut the doors on the kids room as thats private to them and why should a visitor be in their room anyway?
