I haven't tried this myself but apparently if you rub a small amount of clear car wax into the tiles and shower walls this will prevent limescale and soap scum sticking to them. I would imagine you would have to reapply it every once in a while to maintain the efficacy.

I also wipe round the sink and do a quick scrub of the loo with a brush daily to keep it looking nice. Takes a few seconds to do and pays dividends. Not OS at all but if the loo does get ott, I find a squirt of Harpic total power will get rid of all old stains and limescale within a few minutes (when the OS remedies and a trusty pumice stone had all failed to do the trick)

Its a good question, your spending alot of money and want it to stay nice, I don't blame you.

hat I've started doing each morning after my shower is to wipe around the bath to dry it off, (Microfibre cloth of course :D ), then the screen and sink. It really helps keep it nice. Then I use Flash one a week. I know thats not OS but it does work and I have tried others, and it smells nice too :D

Also, don't use bar soap, its leave yucky scum type stuff in the plug hole, Since I swopped to shower gel (basics of course :D ) I've ad no problems at all. And liquid soap at the sink, its mentioned on here that shops own bath cream is the best for re-filling you soap dispenser, with a drop or two of tea-tree oil to make it anti-bac. I should think that tea-tree oil is OS.

HTH, I'm in a hard water area too.

I do as others. My bathroom is 2 years old and black and white. (Disgusting comment to follow)

I found that in spite of the wipe round (or maybe because I kept forgetting) underneath the seat at the front became stained (think sunshine) This took ages to get clean. Watch this area carefully!

Thanks very much everyone - my little routine is already starting to come together...

I love this site!!
• I promise I have looked at previous threads but can't find what I'm looking for.

Basically I'm the laziest person when it comes to cleaning my bathroom-I hate doing and put off doing it until it becomes a health hazard!!! I think part of my problem is I have so many different cleaning products.

Confession time:-

I use
- cream cleaner for the bath and wash basin (use bathroom scourer)
- anti-bacteria wipes for the toilet area
-floor wipes to do the floor
Cilit Bang to do the wall tiles and shower cubicle. (use Bathroom scourer)
I use Harpic cleaner and those Toilet Duck scrubs for down the toilet

I've got bottles of Limescale stuff (the green bottle) but never use them and bottles of Cillit Bang but to be honest I don't really like it.

I use Dettol Anti-Bacteria Surface Cleaner in the kitchen and love it but never think to use it in the bathroom, would it work just as well?

I really hope someone can help me. I know I need to get a grip and clean the bathroom more often but I'm like the lady off the Cillit Bang advert, I've got so many bottles etc to take into the bathroom, it just seems such a chore so I put off doing it. I really need HELP.

Thank you so much for any advise you can give me.

Get some vinegar, Stardrops and bicarb of soda. Check out the Old Style forum too. I just use Stardrops on everything but I'm in a soft water area and don't need to worry about limescale etc. Sorry I can't be of more help. You should post on the Old Style part of the forum or hopefully someone will move your thread over.

Hello needmoneyadvice

As Smiley_Mum says, the place to be is the 'Old Style' board............so I'll move your thread across for you.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

• Thank you so much. You can tell I'm new to this site!!! I need all the help I can get.
• Sorry to sound really stupid but how would you use the vinegar etc? Is white vinegar best? Do you use it on everything, in a particular order? Do you use a cloth, scourer? I'm sorry if I sound so stupid. I feel like I missed out on how to clean house properly.

I use harpic in the loo.. and if it is really bad the power tablets are fantastic!!

I use harpic for the tap dribbles in the enamel bath too..

For everything else.. I use stardrops solution in a squirty bottle.. works for me.. :D

sometimes I get all carried away and do a bucket of bleachy water and scrub the floor and everything.. I love the smell of bleach!
