I would seriously think about looking for a new job if you are being paid late. also look at your rights regarding paying for broken equiment I am sure this is illegal and I am a day nursery manager! As regards CCCS dont worry about the length of time your dmp will last mine started at 22 years but has gone down as things improve and a little more money is available. the trick is to leave enough in your budget to live a resonable life and that includes buying your daugter trainers and school trips. please talk to CCCS as soon as possible and alter your dmp payments.
Hi, thanks yes I am looking for a new job, this is the 2nd nursery I have worked for & both were dreadful, I agree it is illegal to just take money from our pay, its also illegal not to pay us on the corect day & not to give pay slips, last pay slip I had was july and that didnt state my hourly rate or how many hours I had worked, just a total before & after deductions.
Everyone is in the same boat but all, scared to complain as she keeps threatening to make someone redundant. If someone moans she says 'if you dont like it find another job' it really is horrible, a horrible working environment too (which doesnt help), have applied to a few things but work is very hard to come by here at the moment.
What makes matters worse we have to attend training at weekends with no pay & weekly staff meetings often till 9, with no pay.

AND we sometimes have to do a ten hour shift (at the moment I am now doing 5 half days but up till last month was doing 2 ten hour shifts & 2 half days) and the staff meetings always seemed to fall on a ten hour day so means staying there for 13 hours!!

AND on top of that when doing a ten hour shift we are suppose to get a half hour break (12 - 12.30) but if that falls on a friday there are never enough staff to cover for us to take a lunch, so ten hours & no break!!!

  • Hi again

I agree with HHH, you need to be able to balance your debt repayments with having a life otherwise the DMP will fail. Once you have the balance right you can relax a little.

Also agree about getting another job. I know that is easier said than done, but your boss sounds totally unreasonable.

    WoS

DH did apply for dominos pizza delivery but got turned down as he couldnt be available all the time (if needed) due to his main job, I am looking for jobs every day but not much available.

You urgently need to contact the PAY AND WORK RIGHTS HELPLINE 0800 917 2368. All of the things your employer is doing are at best poor practice or at worst illegal!
The helpline will be able to advise & guide you further. I used to work for a nursery who sounds as bad as yours so fingers crossed and here is a dodgy hug :grouphug:.

Just phone and ask for advice, your employer cannot sack you for asking for advice, they wouldn't even know you have sought advice, come back and tell us what the pay and work rights helpline said to you.

I agree with many others on this thread too, phone the CCCS and ask them to review your payments today, you cannot continue in your current situation, your health and your children are far far more important than any debt free date, if you don't want to speak to them, go onto the thread "ask a CCCS counsellor" and post a question, they will reply to you.

The Helpline will NOT contact your employer without your permission. You are also able to report your employer annonymously to various agencies. If he/she is employing more than one person who are they going to sack? All of you? They won't have a business and they may have to get off their !!!!! and actually do some work!
Your employer is relying on the fear of unemployment to carry on doing exactly what they are doing. You have been strong enough to step onto the DFW road so now it's time to be strong enough to fight back at work. Is there someone outside of work who can hold your hand?
Call CCCS NOW! They will happily help you sort out your budget & lower your payments. I had to tinker with mine a few times! They get the fact that circumstances change. Don't worry about the length of the plan. If you have no life in the meantime it will SEEM twice as long anyway.

  • Hi. I think you have 2 issues to sort out - one is the appaling way your employer is treating you which is affecting your pay and the other is your payments seem way to tight. Yes you ought to pay back the money you have borrowed but you do need to be able to feed yourselves and pay the bills or you will just find yourself reaching for more credit or becoming more depressed - please give CCCS a call and get your payments set to something sensible. Things are very likely to change in 10 years time - your income will undoubtadly go up and down over the period (hopefully up overall) and your debt free date will vary but you will get there - you just need to have a bit more realistic budget that's all.
Hope you can get things sorted.

I am so worried that if i complain about work I will loose my job, she took on a new girl a few months after me, she was a bit outspoken so she let her go, told her she didnt have the work for her so had to 'make her redundant' then immediately after, took on someone else!
