It's free p&p so he can hardly complain. I don't even know how I managed to do that as I don't offer free p&p.
Its not free its included in the price he paid. He can complain if you have said Royal Mail in your listing. I know I would if I bought something expecting RM because I was going to be out but it comes via some courier who's base is either miles away of they charge me to deliver again. I would then be thinking very closely about Feedback and DSRs

If Royal Mail can't deliver they don't take it to the nearest post office. They take it back to the sorting office. Ours is only open 8-11:30, so is far more of a nuisance than collecting from a courier.

thats for you,for a large part of the population the RM depot will be far closer
some do leave items at posts offices as well
all the courier depots in Edinburgh are on the west outskirts of the city(or further)
i live on the east outskirts,so at least a 20 mile round trip, but can be near 50 for some couriers based in Livingstone

also 8-1130? i have never heard of an RM depot with that short hours unless you mean a Saturday
RM are about to revamp and extend opening hours anyway
my old depot was 7-7 weekdays (7-8 tue & thur) and 7-12.30 saturdays (soon to be 2pm)

If you live out in the country as I do. Most courier depots are a far greater distance than Sorting offices. Also RM don't charge for redelivery which a lot of couriers do and you can get RM to redeliver on Saturdays. It all depends on geography but IMO i would guess that its easier for the majority of people to collect or get redelivered from RM than most couriers

I know a lot of people who when they buy off ebay only go for listings that state RM or PF as they are easier for those people to collect if problems

Senditeasy (who I have used occasionally over the years for e.g. France) can accept up to 175cm (5 ft 10 inches) max length without going to manual quote: For a 21x21x175 cm object at say 8 KG weight 23.32 + VAT with £50 cover and more cover avail for a few pounds extra.

Everything is done online and a tracking number supplied.

why would a buyer complain about getting their item quicker and full tracked than using rm? unless of course they want it untracked because they intend to put in a item not received claim when it arrives
