I assume that you fell foul of these conditions:

Hazardous materials eg Paint / Adhesives / Chemicals / Flammable resins/ solvents/ liquids / Compressed Air / Items containing any gases - See Also Household goods
Household goods containing flammable or corrosive liquids, such as oven or drain cleaners / perfume, aftershave/ hairspray/ nail varnish and remover/ antiseptic wipes ...
So basically it doesn't really matter whether you say it's "safe" or not, if it's a chemical (a broad term) then Interparcel are within their rights to refuse it.

Surely they should at least refund the money? Now heres the new question, as PB have gone with peoples money, scammed people here and courier company's alike

PM seem to be the cheapest for a(mainland) UK to(mainland) UK delivery at £6.87, and we can do away with the advertising by not using their labels. They may not however be the cheapest for channel Islands and to international countries

P2G have a £4 quidco offer that people are reporting they are getting making them the absolute cheapest if what one person says is true-that you get £4 cashack per email used, making them very cheap for UK to UK delivery

PM are very cheap for larger items, but pallets are still not worth sending via resellers, instead by using "mans in vans"

P2G are really competing now for the int'l market and for large items, as are PM

I had 8 parcels booked with parcelbee and also no email contact. I have put in a paypal claim and read on one of the other threads that if paypal get enough complaints they will have to do somthing about it so I would urge everybody who has lost money to put in a paypal claim and surely they bound to take notice. I have rebooked with dispatch bay who have not failed to deliver yet. Their current economy rate is £5.78+VAT up to 28kg but I think you gan get it cheaper if you send over 30 parcels a month. There is a £1.95 surcharge if you have a collection of less than 4 parcels. If you use my discount code 1G968 when signing up you can get free shipping worth £11.75.

Received an email from Pharos Parcel regarding sending large parcels to Finland. Will give them a go next week and will let everyone know how I got on.

    Thank you for your query.
We offer a fixed price up to 30Kg to Finland which does make us a bit unique in the industry.
If you go over 30Kg the standard price does not apply.
You can send boxes of larger dimensions but the website will kick you out if it is too large and I get hit with a surcharge if it is overmax size.
The rule of thumb is it must not exceed a dimensional weight of 70kg the max length being 270cm and the maximum size is 330 cm in length and girth combined.
We use UPS who are very good and you can insure your parcel but a word of caution.
Ruthlessly package your items to withstand automated handling and enclose them in double walled box with 2 inches of packaging around them. I advise my customers to take photos on a digital camera of the packing to prove sufficient packaging in the rare event of a damaged parcel.
We do not at present charge for using a credit card and I hope to keep that policy.
If you like our site and service all I ask is that you spread the word to anyone you know who may have need of a good courier service.

If I can be of further help please do not hesitate to contact me

    Many Thanks

    Customer Services
    Pharos Parcel Limited

I have used Pharos quite alot now. On the whole the service from them as a seller is very good. The parcel labels and VAT invoice is emailed instantly. Any problems with failed collections or not being able to print lablels off (printer probs) and they respond and try to help out. They do have a customer service not like many. A big negative is the fines. I have had numerous £45 fines for so called oversized parcels. I was once fined because a parcel was apparantly 1cm over the width that I had stated (still not over the max allowed just 1cm over my declaration). If I ever use them now I have to photograph every parcel with a tape measure. The 1cm thing I thought was uncalled for. If I have ever used UPS through a different seller I have never had problems like this with the size.

I was going to boolk PB tonight so looks like I have had a lucky escape!! I think it is back to RM International Signed for now. I've tried to do a parcel (7kg to Oz) and on average it is £90 and I can break it into 3 packets and send to Oz for £90 and get £500 Insurance on each package.

What a shame but had a lucky escape as I sent a £500 package to Oz via PB/DHL that arrived at the tail end of last week!!!!!!

Surely you could also take PB to court? Last time when I got screwed over by lcpd(same company in my books) I got told by FedEx, that I could take them to court over the matter as I paid for a service that I did not receive...

Would be virtually impossible to take them to court to be honest - I was tempted to do a MCOL on them. But if the administrators are in they'll be taking a massive wedge of any capital or assets they have, leaving everybody else whom is owed money very little (usually between 5p and 10p in every pound). To be fair, they must only be some kind of man in an office company seeings they had no staff answering phones or anything so can't see they've even got any assets.
All our money will be going to pay off the Administrators and DHL I guess

  • I bet PB owe all the carriers money.

It didn't seem right when they went from UPS, to PF to DHL all in the space of 2 months.

Do you mean DHL Express or DHL Home?

Also we've seen this before with Low Cost Parcel Delivery. Cheaper prices than everyone. They had DHL, then Parcel Force, then FedEx then gone!

ParcelBee have gone UPS,ParcelForce and now DHL. Again Cheaper prices than everyone else. How long before they're gone and not booking parcels and keeping the money?

Hey, I hope they don't because it's great to see someone with great prices but I like to know who's collecting my parcel etc something ParcelBee and ParcelMoney don't do.

Looks like this was pointed out back in the middle of February that Parcelbee where doing the same as someone before. Well done for spotting this pattern, shame we didn't take note. Well done smarty pants:rotfl:

A quick update on my experiences this week.
Booked two with Parcelmonkey Sunday, collected by Citylink Monday and both out for delivery Tuesday so both perfect jobs.
Citylink need you to sign for a collection so the opportunities for me to use this service are limited as i cannot guaranteee to be here all day most days so i have been using the slightly more expensive interparcel with UPS where i do not need to be here for a collection. Interparcel advertise this as an up to three day delivery but mine have been arriving next day.

I think the UPS service could well be the best, only downside is having to print your own label (if you don't have a printer that is).
  • Afternoon everyone,

I am also known as TuftyMatt but have had my status changed to company representative so I can post about specific questions relating to my business.

I am not on here to plug Parcelmonkey 20 times a day and will not be quoting our prices etc but just want to assure customers that if they have issues or ideas then I am around to talk with and try to help.

    Thanks.:)
