Edit: I've just come across pharosparcel.com and offered a fantastic price of £25ish for 30kg (60cmby60cmby60cm). I can't believe how cheap but was wondering if anyone has used them before and what couriers have the used. I have read in another post that UPS was used. Any thoughts on pharosparcel?
I used to use them all the time, but not used them for about 2 years they always used to use UPS0 -
Is it just me but have the prices of the companies i.e parcel2go and pacelmonkey jumped up. I tried to get a similar quote using the max dimensions (120 by 60 by 60 cm for 30KG) given by parcelbee to Finland and everyone's price was over £100. The cheapest I've found was interparcel at £50 plus vat, but when i dropped the weight down to 25kg, parcel2go became the cheapest at £35 + vat. It just seems that prices are competly different from January when I last checked them
I've checked interparcel
parcel money (very expensive as it only gave me a 1-2 day service to finland)
parcel2go
parcel bee (no more?)
anyone else?

The whole DHL 120cm x 60cm x 60cm stop quite as while back and then changed it a maximum length of 150cm and a maximum volume of 0.23m3. I never did understand how ParcelBee where offering such big dimensions, they must have been surcharged by DHL for them all?0 -
Received an email from Pharos Parcel regarding sending large parcels to Finland. Will give them a go next week and will let everyone know how I got on.
Thank you for your query.
We offer a fixed price up to 30Kg to Finland which does make us a bit unique in the industry.
If you go over 30Kg the standard price does not apply.
You can send boxes of larger dimensions but the website will kick you out if it is too large and I get hit with a surcharge if it is overmax size.
The rule of thumb is it must not exceed a dimensional weight of 70kg the max length being 270cm and the maximum size is 330 cm in length and girth combined.
We use UPS who are very good and you can insure your parcel but a word of caution.
Ruthlessly package your items to withstand automated handling and enclose them in double walled box with 2 inches of packaging around them. I advise my customers to take photos on a digital camera of the packing to prove sufficient packaging in the rare event of a damaged parcel.
We do not at present charge for using a credit card and I hope to keep that policy.
If you like our site and service all I ask is that you spread the word to anyone you know who may have need of a good courier service.
If I can be of further help please do not hesitate to contact me
Many Thanks
Fiona McLellan

Looks much more professional if you're selling and don't want a grinning primate to greet your customers.
Likewise, if you want your customer to return something, just book a delivery and give them the reference number to write on the box. Much less hassle then having your customers print out a PDF and try to stick it to the box.
Business has been extremely slow(since Christmas!) So your simply saying, to write down the customers name and address in MS word and the citylink assignment number? It does look a lot more professional without a grinning monkey, I agree. It makes small sellers look a little more important lol, if people dont know we're using resellers and PM plaster their name on an A4 piece of paper. Despite being cheaper than PPP, this was what was making me think should I go to PPP?
Surely you could also take PB to court? Last time when I got screwed over by lcpd(same company in my books) I got told by FedEx, that I could take them to court over the matter as I paid for a service that I did not receive
I had my suspicions that PB was the same as LCPD, however I thought to give them a second chance. If they pop up in the future and I spot the similarities, I will not be giving them a third chance! They had their chance and they blew it totally0 -
Don't let Parcelbee and/or Paypal get away with not refunding your money.
If you paid by credit card or debit card, even though it was through Paypal, you can ask your bank to perform a Chargeback to recover the money. I've done it before and was successful in recovering my cash.
If you try to recover it through Paypal, they'll just tell you that you're not covered because it wasn't a purchase of a physical item. It's probably best though to go through this route first, because at least when they tell you you're not covered and you hit them with a chargeback, you can say to them you gave them the opportunity to resolve it first and they failed to do so.

Just a quick update on my Interparcel issue - dispute missing the collection on Monday and finally picking it up on Tuesday they are now returning the parcel to me as it contains 'hazardous items' that are against their terms and conditions. This is absolute nonsense the parcels contain a product thats no more harmful than toothpaste or a scarf! I have sent them the ingredients in the item along with a note saying how they can be shipped by royal mail airmail, standard post, are flown to us in their 1000's from overseas etc all to no avail.... It seems if interparcel want to return a parcel to you and to keep your £13 paid they can claim it is hazardous and theres nothing you can do about it! These products are so mild you can put them on your skin and leave them there for days or weeks if you want with no issues at all. Interparcel???? InterFARCE more like it!
Can anyone advise how I can prove the items I sent are not hazardous and so get my payment back? Its bad enough they did not deliver on Tuesday as I had booked for but to now be waiting god knows how long on the parcel coming back to me for a stupid made up reason grrrrrrrrr!
ADDED - I have been selling and posting these items for many many years using royal mail, airmail, couriers etc and this is the only time anyone has claimed they are hazardous. I wont go into too much detail here as I dont advertise my business on this forum but the product in question is well known and well loved because it is a gentle safe alternative to more harmful products on the market and some people even use it on their pets and kids - so definatelt not hazardous! Some People Live & Learn, Some People Just Live...0 -

I assume that you fell foul of these conditions:
Hazardous materials eg Paint / Adhesives / Chemicals / Flammable resins/ solvents/ liquids / Compressed Air / Items containing any gases - See Also Household goods
Household goods containing flammable or corrosive liquids, such as oven or drain cleaners / perfume, aftershave/ hairspray/ nail varnish and remover/ antiseptic wipes ...
So basically it doesn't really matter whether you say it's "safe" or not, if it's a chemical (a broad term) then Interparcel are within their rights to refuse it.They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0
