Parcel Bee are certainly a worry. I was on hold to them for 57 minutes and no reply!!! They did respond via email though.
I booked a 3/2/10 collection (2nd March - formatted on their site as US style) - they apparently misread it and thought it was a collection for the 3rd of March, so no one turned up.
They refunded me straight away, but evidently if it's a case of them having to read the bookings they make rather than having an automated system they aren't up to too much cop, especially if hey can make ludicrous mistakes like this.0 -

Have i understood this right - you put the colection date in as third of february then were suprised when no one turned up on second of march?0 -
No she is saying the date was formatted American style M/D/Y
the parcelbee website i use is a UK site with UK dates - where have you seen american dates and why would anyone input an american date into a UK site and expect to get a sensible result?
my question stands - "the collection date put in as third of february then were suprised when no one turned up on second of march".
sometimes i feel sorry for these parcel bookers.0 -
Where's all the "who's cheapest" stickies gone? What's happened to Armitage Shanks? I was away for a bit, then come back and I hardly recognise the place!0

Who's cheapest for (lightish, <2kg, but too big for RM small package Airmail) parcels to the US these days? Thanks! (PBee £24.99 for 72 hr service - anyone cheaper / better?)They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

Royalmail? I havent checked the prices though! Ive seen parcelmonkey's prices for larger goods. I have a satellite dish and motor(cost me £52) that I may want to sell in the future, and it would fetch the same amount of money, if only I could post it. Its a 1m dish and the motor is parcel sized. Any way, that aside, I did a dummy booking with the measurements of 250x250x250 with a 35kg parcel and the price was just under £14(with VAT) which was quite impressive.
I dont think I have many items with dimensions more than that amount! So in the distant future, Id hope to use them for larger items
That is as long as I get a mainland UK buyer. I checked European deliveries and even deliveries to N.Ireland and the channel Islands and the price rocketed to hundreds of pounds, making those "man in a van" type people cheaper via sites such as boxby.co.uk and shiply.co.uk.
Another update for another company, P2G have officially announced their large/heavy service today, which is interesting and for parcels sent to the US, they have cut prices by 30%

PM are also now the cheapest delivery company if you are VAT registered at £5.85(ex VAT) making them cheaper than parcelbee for mainland UK deliveries. If you arent VAT registered, then parcelbee is your cheapest way of delivering your goods. If sending large/heavy goods, pm are very competitive, though Ill see who comes out on top; either p2g or pm. Maybe even PB if you email them for a quote0 -

Correction, i know i keep banging on about them but for vat registered businesses, not looking for next day delivery - hermes are currently cheapest at £4.99 ex vat - followed by PM. i'm up to 85 shipments with them and no returns, no losses & no complaints, from my experience they are performing better for me than DHL ever did.
i know they are quirky, i know they are not suitable for everyone, i know some people dont like them but we all have different experiences and requirements, look at the previous posts giving PB a hard time.
this is just an objective opinion from one of their happier customers and £4.99 ex vat includes northern ireland and scottish highlands too - i cant fault them at the moment. And no, before i start being accused of being a mole, i'm not connected to them in any way!!
Wish they would go on quidco though!!!0 -

Apart from not being next day the other drawbacks which you do not mention are
that it costs an extra £1 for a signature
there is only £25 insurance included
the 4.99 is only up to 5kg sending 5.5kg would be £5.95 plus vat plus extra for a signature
I would agree if :
you are vat registered,
sending light packages,
sending low value packages,
do not need a signature to fight off non delivery complaints
do not need a quick delivery - hermes is up to 5 days
then yes if you tick all those boxes you can save 86p over conventional couriers.0
