Has anyone had experience with DHL of checking parcels?
I booked through parcelbee yesterday, have used them loads of times, normally PF but this time DHL - not a problem to me as used DHL loads of times too and always happy with them.
Anyway, spent a good deal of time carefully wrapping the contents and securing the BIG box!!, DHL chap comes and said that he has to unwrap the parcel and check the contents to make sure its not prohibited items - I asked if this was new as never ever had to do this before and he said it's standard practice - I queried what would happen if I wasn't there(which I'm normally not and any parcels are left in a pre-arranged safe place where they also leave my parcels) and he said he wouldn't have taken it.

So he then proceeded to tear all my careful packing apart, unwrapped the contents said yes thats ok and I had to repack it all up again, he said at least you'll know for next time to which I replied, yes, not to book through DHL again!

So is this something they have just started to enforce or have I just always had lazy couriers that cba to check it before?

I'm a bit annoyed as I like either DHL or PF but I can't risk booking with parcelbee now incase they send DHL and 9/10 times I'm not here when they collect.

I had a DHL pick-up today, and the driver had no interest in what was in the parcel.

    I've been Money Tipped!
The first time I used DHL 3 years ago, he was hacked off at me as I'd left the parcel open for inspection, and made him wait whilst I sealed it. The requirement has always been there, but I've never known it to be enforced.

Dropped something at the depot last week and wasn't asked to open it up - I hope they aren't enforcing this requirement more strictly - it'll annoy their drivers no end (and me!)

I'd stick with parcelbee - whoever you use, avoid payperparcel. Still waiting for a claim to be resolved 6 months on due to the fact PaPP keep on losing my paperwork (despite it being attached to the emails they send me asking for paperwork...)

    Parcelforce is cheaper than that.

It's £22.50 with Parcel Force from their website.

Rats, I posted an item with RM to the Shetlands this morning that could've gone by courier if I'd known it wasn't extra thru PB. Thanks for the confirmation. I'll be sure to check next time. :o

Parcel Bee are really good actually, I'd not hear of them before I saw this thread, but its saved me a load of time today.

I placed an order last night for 2 items which were collected by dhl at 9.30 this morning. Then at 1pm I placed another order for 3 more parcels to be collected, and they were collected by 2pm also by dhl!!

    Brilliant service!
