Has anyone had any recent experiences with collect+ or any of those drop-off parcel services? I've never used them before but a en ebay buyer recommended them.

    Thanks

    Yes.

My wife tried them a couple of weeks ago to send a parcel to Aberdeen, and we dropped it off at the local asian shop on a Sunday, (Which a lot of the drop off points seem to be) it was scanned in, collected the next day, and delivered 3 days later.

The guy at the shop told my wife they collect 6 days a week. (But if you drop off at the weekend, it won't get moved from the depot until Monday.)

I don't know who they piggy back onto in order to move the goods, but they delivered it intact.

Just remember it is an economy service, and insurance is £20 max on payout, but if you have low value goods, and aren't in a hurry, then so far so good.

It's bookable through P2G, and when you input your postcode, it gives you your nearest drop off point. Cost to ship outside of E.Bay was £4.99 inc vat, and I think an E.Bay related shipment is cheaper. No more waiting in for a parcel carrier to turn up.

You should never book a service like that through P2G, they have their own website (https://www.collectplus.co.uk) which is a penny cheaper on all services and insures all parcels up to £50 as standard, with extra insurance available. They piggy back on the YoDel network (formerly HDNL) who have one of the worst reputations probably in the history of delivery, however I've never found them too bad.

I've used them often (despite telling myself never to use Yodel again). All have turned up OK. They take about 4-7 days.

I posted one Monday, and the tracking shows there is a problem with the parcel and i need to phone them. Past experience tells me this could cost around £20.

So i emailed the buyer instead, and he has the item and is very happy.

Typical yodel - making life harder than it needs to be.

Yes. Ours did the same, and our buyer had received it.

because P2G are legendarily bad at customer service when things go wrong, and things go wrong quite often at courier companies, and it's a bad idea putting another company between you and the courier as that then means you can't contact the courier (collect+) directly as they have no contract with you, just parcel2go, who don't really have a clue what customer service is, and if you book through P2G the standard insurance is lower, and far less likely to pay out than C+'s insurance.

in the future it's far easier, quicker and generally better to book the direct at https://www.collectplus.co.uk, and there isn't a surcharge for PayPal if you book direct.

Something to watch out with these companies [Collect+] is that you may have trouble getting any kind of compensation if there are any problems with the delivery.
    !

You also need to be aware of handling policy of Collect+

I sold my Xbox console and sent it via Collect+

I mentioned to the shop owner (which is where you post your parcels) that the item was fragile, to which he told me the Collect+ handling policy means any parcels/boxes should withstand being dropped from a height of 1 meter

Which is good advice for all courier companies.

Collect+ delivery starts at £3.99 whatever you post (nothing to do with Ebay)
