    Hi there,

I was just wondering what the latest advice on big parcels were. I am trying to get a quote for a double buggy (dimensions of box 125/ 60/ 50cm) and weight 20.5kg. I've had some stupid quotes so far (£50) so just wondered where the best place to go was or if anyone had any experience of sending large parcels.

    Thanks in advance

Heres a bit of breaking news from the world of logistics...

"It’s official. UPS and TNT Express have reached agreement on a deal for UPS’s acquisition of TNT. Shareowners have to approve."

Is this a good or bad thing you think?
Good and bad, less competition but less empty vans, hopefully lower prices due to combined efficiency, I personally prefer TNT to UPS anyway, so personally I'm completely undecided (sorry for such a long and completely useless post)

I thought it was Fedex and UPS merging to become 'FEDUP'.....old ones are best

Having been ruthlessly messed around *yet* again by interparcel, I thought about giving gwizz a go, are they any good?

  • The few times I've used them they've been good, but that is very limited, there are a few people 'round here who have used them I think

they sell ups and city link.
ups are great and gwizz ups prices are good. if you have a problem you can talk to someone at gwizz and get a response. their insurance rates are good.

one niggle with gwizz UPS service is you only get the label on the morning of the collection as there is no real time link to ups. So order friday night and get the label on monday morning when someone comes into gwizz office and presses some buttons - this can be a pain if you want to get organised and ready the night before or have a last minute problem with your printer with the driver coming down your road,.

I like UPS, which is why I wanted to find another UPS reseller other than interparcel, who seem to have gone from being really good to being really bad.

The label delay could be a pain, but I'll give gwizz (who thought that was agood name??) a go tommorow.

I've used gwizz a lot. The label thing is a pain but it's the only bad thing about them. I've never had any issues with UPS and when I've booked CityLink with them, they've been much better at chasing any issues than the likes of say ParcelMonkey who you can't even get on the phone.

Looks like I'll be using Gwizz from now on. Just got a quote for a 5Kg parcel to New Zealand - £63 via UPS. The same on ParcelMonkey via DHL - £130!!! I've used PM for so long with no problems but I can't justify that sort of expense!

Any other suggestions before I go with Gwizz?

For 5Kg, collectmyparcel.com have a Parcel Force Worldwide service at £50.05 or a FedEx Express service at £54.13
