Time for me to seriously look around for a new preferred courier seeing as ParcelMonkey has increased their prices by 40%.0

I agree - ParcelMonkey have always been great for me, and their next day via citylink for just over 7 quid was brilliant (and that was for 10kg bulky parcels). Unfortunately they've just hiked their prices massively overnight, which is bloody annoying - will cost me a bomb as I've lots of ebay items listed with the cheap postage rate.
Anybody got a better alternative? MyHermes look bloody awful, and they're the only cheap one I can see at first glance. I used to use payperparcel, who were a bit pricier but reliable, until DHL turned into Yodel and promptly failed to turn up 3 weeks in a row.0 -
DAMMIT - I just had a look at ipostparcels and got excited, seemed great, certainly for up to 10kg a much better rate than parcelmonkey now. A sizeable discount for multiple parcels sent at the same time too (£5.74+VAT down from £6.99 +VAT), and if I'm reading it right they can all be going to different addresses as long as collected form same location.
BUT they have big restrictions on size; no one dimension over 45cm for a 10kg parcel. To send a single golf club its size would bump it to the 25kg parcel rate, about £13 (as opposed to £7.02 with parcelmonkey as-was).0 -

Yep, already had my collection this morning
I will be trying ipostparcels for the smaller stuff though, esp as there is a UKMail depot next door to my local Tesco (their prices are cheaper if you drop at depot). They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -

It may be understandable that ParcelMonkey have increased their prices due to possible raises in carrier costs, however we can only hope that ParcelMonkey will soon realise that such a massive hike of 40% will cost them custom as l can no longer see what makes them so different to the other companies out there, especially for me seeing as failed collections from City Link Chelmsford are getting more and more frequent.
Also ParcelMonkey have increased the Mail Bag option so much its not really worth considering any longer you might as well go for Next Day Parcel.
Please ParcelMonkey, don't become JUST ANOTHER of those third party companies, go back to being the one who stood out due to lower prices. Also please give City Link Chelmsford a kick up the as@ for me.
The next kick in the teeth for us will be Royal Mail's pending prices hikes!0 -

Yes it is city link that have done this. with write downs for goodwill and operating losses citylink lost money at the rate of £3m a week last year.
Earlier in the year we saw DHL hike rates by a similar amount and that seems to have stuck so i expect this rise will stick as well. I wouldnt think parcelmonkey are feeling very chipper at the moment0 -
The way fuel prices are going, I expect to see them all raise prices sooner or later or pull out of broker sites completely like DHL did. Fuel prices have a profound knock on effect, but if you put postage prices up to reflect this Joe Public moans saying postage is too high....they still expect postage prices to be 2005 prices while fuel prices have practically doubled since then.Practise safe sex, make love in a Volvo

The rumour seems to be that UPS will raise prices very soon. Its is also expected they will announce purchase of TNT anyday now.
Its time to revise those shipping costs upwards if you have listings running.0
