Parcel Monkey have increased their City Link prices for the next day, under 10 kilos from £7.02 to £11.38, both including VAT: £9.49 without VAT
This is over 50% increase and is a real shame as they gave an excellent service at a low price.
Their web site says they still offer the best next day delivery prices on line.
Is this true?
Leaving aside the likes of My Hermes, is there anyone comparable for price and service?
Obviously the best, can you advise?
They've also increased their mailing bag service price to £7.45+VAT (from £4.85) - an increase of more than 50% as you say! I had failed collections on my last two orders this week too, so sod 'em, I have switched back to Royal Mail. I predict their volumes falling through the floor.
I'll be using GWizz for the heavier stuff. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
This is on GWizz site:Citylink have advised us that Citylink has decided to ask all parcel brokerage companies and all freight forwarders in the uk to pay additional costs for third party collections. These will take effect from Monday 12 March. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. We have kept our compensation cover charges lower than nearly anyone else's in this industry. Thank you very much for your ongoing use of our service. Do check out all our services and prices.
so it appears that CityLink don't want the broker business anymore...They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -

Just to add, if you really must have CityLink (and I couldn't think of one reason why) than P4D have next day CityLink at £7.99+VAT. I'd still favour UPS next day for £6.99+VAT through GWizz though. Alternatively, there is DHL domestic next day at £6.99+VAT through parcelbroker (or UPS for business addresses). They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
Doesn't have to be City Link. It was just that the Parcel Monkey pricing and City Link service worked for me.
Time for a change it seems and your suggestions are helpful.
GWizz threaten to charge £13 approx if you are not in when the driver calls. I like to leave my parcels in a discreet place to be picked up but fear the surcharge and have better things to do than wait in all day for a collection. Does anyone have any experience of whether they actually do impose it?0 -
City Link results out this week showed a loss of £31.3 million, up from £9.6M in 2010, with turnover declining by 8.5%.0

The UPS driver (booked through GWizz) collects off my porch no problem but I guess you'd want to check with them the first time that they're happy to do so.They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
just wanted to re-iterate try interparcel offering the UPS standard service 6.99 plus vat have been using this since august last year 10-20 times a week and have had no issue no sorry 2 failed collection whereas Citylink out of 10 collections in total i've had about 3/4 missed collections and the times they collect is madness sometimes 6/7pm in the evening, UPS through interparcel you can narrow it down to 2/3 hours so morning/afternoon so a big thumbs up from me (NO I don't work for interparcel/ nor UPS) only problem I have is with larger parcels which I have been using Fast Lane comes up with cheaper prices than myparceldelivery and parcelmonkey for the same CityLink service but think I will give Gwizz a try next time, does anyone know of and can recommend a cheap CAREFUL carrier for furniture expensive John Lewis stuff dining tables, tv units etc0
