    Hi all,

First poster here, but I've been reading the forums for a lot longer. Just thought I'd share what happened to me today.

I needed to send a small package to Romania, and I ended up using ThePackageDeliveryCompany (read about them in this thread actually). This is the first time I use a discounter. Package: 21x16x12cm, 1kg (actually 20.5x15.6x11.2 @ 600g, but I rounded up since the price didn't go up with it) = 10 pounds; 300 pounds cover = 5.5 pounds; total = 15.5 pounds. Parcel2go wanted 33.43, others offered similar quotes (and honestly, if the quote isn't far from that of Eastlines.co.uk, then I prefer using Eastlines for Romania).

ThePackageDeliveryCompany initially didn't keep to their side of the deal and didn't send me the label by 11pm yesterday, so I emailed customer services soon after the deadline. I received the UPS label and an apology this morning at 6:20am though, so that's fine. Nicely done there. They put my package on UPS Standard, which is fine too.

Next, you know how people complain about packages not being collected? This is a funny one. At 3pm a UPS van turned up and picked up my parcel. Two hours later, at 5pm, another one came to pick up the same package. The driver thought I was joking when I told him the package was already picked up. Because of this, until the parcel gets scanned at the depo, I'm can't help being worried a bit (no reports on the Net about two vans coming to collect as far as I can tell).

Has this ever happened to anyone? Also, does anyone have a guesstimate on how long it takes for a parcel to get from collection point to depo? The tracking page still says the status will be updated as soon as the shipment arrives at their facility.

Now I'll just refresh the tracking page from time to time to see where my parcel is, and hope it gets to destination properly :)

    Cheers.

UPDATE: Parcel reached depo some time after I posted and now.

Two of us have wasted over 2hrs trying to use MyHermes website to send a package.

It is so frustrating. Don't bother using them.

Use a courier that has a web site that works or one that you can contact for help!

I was skeptical of myhermes first as well, but I used them twice after a friend used them. I got a tracking number, and the parcels were delivered in time. The lack of posts makes me think potential sabotage, which is quite low indeed

Thanks, that is so much cheaper.
  • Hi, does anyone know how to book UPS through thepackagedeliverycompany? They mention it on their home page as one of the couriers, I went to book but it didn't let me select and didn't even say which courier I was booking with, had to abandon as I wanted UPS only, they're certainly not making it easy:(

thpackagedeliverycompany don't specify courier, as they use whichever is cheapest, I've had all their companies and find them all good, if you must have ups try GWizz and interparcel, although I'm not a great UPS fan, personally much prefer interlink direct or UKMail, but especially interlink as they text/e-mail your customer with a 1 hour slot at no extra charge
  • Apparently MyHermes are overcome by the huge demand (no surprise because they're the cheapest) and successful collection is a bit of hit or miss. While last year was a success, this year they failed to show up to collect, nor have replied to my emails and kept me waiting behind the phone line. Dispute on Paypal resolution centre is still unanswered.
