  • Everyone stop giving praise to this company, they are the smalest of the smalest, they cheat to get rates do not give you an labels do not give you a tracking number till they open at 9am, use one of the companys that have been about for ages, not this fly by night company, that they also do & would take £15.00 from your credit card if you were not in when the driver came to collect you parcel.
Only company in the world that does this, stay clear.

If you read back through this thread, you will see that it has been highlighted that there are downsides to using GWizz ie not getting a tracking number until the morning of collection. However, there are upsides too (generous size limits, weight limits and insurance) so it's for individuals to weigh up (pun intended) whether they want to use them. IMO, they are not a fly-by-night company.

TBH, you just sound bitter because you were charged for a missed collection. GWizz are not the only re-seller to do this, but I agree that £15 is a bit steep. Try being in next time?

Parcelmonkey charge for missed collections and deliveries on some services, and GWizz have been used many times by me, anyway, weren't you the one spamming about thepackagedeliverycompany (not a bad comapny actually, just a shame they have spammers)

Come on guys and gals, let's not fight. Spam this and spam that etc.

I think it's very hard to charge for a re-collection as it's the drivers word against the sender, and what if the driver went to the wrong address?

Gwizz have some good prices, they look legit (what do you mean by "cheat to get their rates"?

We can't blame bookings agents when a carrier doesn't collect (unless they didn't send the booking). We need to praise the ones that are there quickly and promptly when things go wrong or when you want to cancel and get a refund (we want our money back within a day or two not weeks).

I know most of it is about price, but every now and again something goes wrong and we need service too. We've all read Parcel2go.com, Parcel Monkey (some say Interparcel) provide poor service. Yes we'd still use them if we needed a certain service they offer.

Come on guys, let's help each other out there.

    wheel it to the door?
is every door in the UK accessible to a trolley?
owner drivers are out trying to get packages delivered, not mess around with awkward/heavy loads
what would an owner/driver with a hernia/strain do?
interesting how many are happy to let health and safety slide when it fits their purpose

Door or as close as, there are other means of transport but your looking for an argument.

So what do all these companies do that offer to carry heavier stuff?

I've had heavy stuff delivered and offered the courier a hand which they refused as they would rather strain themselves.

Way of the world, health and safety goes clean out the window on a daily basic, not just in the world of deliveries.

In my experience delivery drivers drive like maniacs and are rough as hell when it comes to handling goods.

They never look at boxes that are marked with this way up and the like and when they have a box in front of them with two perfectly good handles, they will still drag it out with one and bust it.....resulting in a hernia/strain of course, all their own doing

    This is correct,
The european law states that no one person should lift more than 31.5 kg
People that put these hard working drivers under this extra pressure should be shot.

That would be their employers, if they offer a service wherby they accept heavy parcels and then only have one man on the job.
  • In short, I sent a parcel using ParcelMonkey (using DHL service) to China. I weighed the parcel to be 4.4 kg.

Two weeks after i sent the parcel I received a note that ParcelMonkey will charge me more as the parcel was 4.5kg, not 4kg. This would be fair otherwise but heir website allows only to enter full kilograms, i.e. 4kg or 5 kg. Since 4.4kg is closer to 4 kg, I entered 4kg when I sent the parcel.

I complained about this and they said feel free to take us to Small Claims Court, which is exactly what I plan to do. The extra 100g can easily be gained do to rain absorbed on cardboard parcel.

Any views on this? Without the website problem, I would have accepted the extra charge no probs.

I don't use couriers but are you sure that the weight isn't 'up to' the weight in KGs as it is with Royal Mail?

For instance I have a parcel here that weighs 2.15 KG and It is going to cost me £7.62 standard parcels as I have exceeded the 2kg weight and have to pay into the next band.

We always go higher and so 4.4Kg we would be book as 5Kg so this doesn't happen and doesn't delay the parcel etc. How much are they charging you? It can only be a couple of £'s surely?
