I've recently started to ebay some items and thought I would save some effort and money by using a courier company.

I booked the parcels through My Hermes, who have been very helpful and efficient throughout. I cannot say the same for the courier that they use - a firm called Neil Beauchamp (SE26 5BA).

They were booked to pickup parcels Tuesday and Wednesday last week, and as of now (Monday evening) have not shown up to collect any parcels, have not phoned or otherwise attempted to communicate. I've been in regular contact with them over the week via MyHermes and directly. Apart from when they were closed last week for a couple of days the general response is that they will collect "tomorrow".

I've tried to escalate by calling the company directly but the staff answering the phones don't know a lot about what is going on and the management team appear to be mostly absent (at least they weren't picking up the phone).

Given the amount of time spent on this it would have been faster to spend the 1.5-2 hours to drive to their depot and back.

I'm going to try asking MyHermes to use a different courier in my area - I'm really tired of waiting around for a courier that never comes.

Thats the problem with dealing with a company who outsources/uses 3rd parties for collection.

I would never touch myhermes with a bargepole!

All the companies on this thread outsource. It's what makes them cheap.
• Have tried Hermes for first time this week and not impressed so far. Failed to collect 2 parcels on specified date for bookings i had prepaid for online 3 days ago, impossible to get thro on the phone all afternoon/evening.

Also a delivery i was due to receive has been shown as delivered 3 days ago but certainly hasnt arrived at my address yet!

In theory great service but i am yet to experience it!!

I finally managed to get things escalated at myHermes, packages were picked up before a given time (2.30pm). I asked them to investigate - apparently the courier was closed due to bad weather and they had an awol driver who didn't show up to work.

Hopefully the packages will get delivered. myHermes were good enough to refund my money for the delayed packages.

If they the packages arrive in good time I'd consider using them again, but maybe for one or two trial packages to see if they have got their act together before committing too many.

I also have a trial package with parcel monkey (using the infamous city link), fingers crossed to see how that goes.

I don't mean resellers, I mean actual courier companies such as UPS don't outsource to unreliable 3rd party drivers.

• Hi, I use MSE a lot to get hints and tips re all sorts of money saving ideas - so naturally I checked out couriers when I needed to send a parcel! I contacted Parcelmonkey on Monday morning (09.55), requested a same day collection/next day delivery - and 3 days later my parcel is still sat here! My first ticket was cancelled due to non-collection (?) - no explanation given! I sat in again all day yesterday - still nothing - then 01.40am was instructed to print another label! I doubt I would use this outfit again! No apology - nothing! Fingers x'd they will indeed collect today (Wed) as my customer is getting irate with me now!

Fair enough, and I'm not trying to be smart, but this is a money saving forum. I use collectmyparcel and they use DHL. No dodgy third parties there either. Saves a fortune using a reseller.

Read the forum mate - or at least this thread. Many of the actual delivery companies are in the brown stuff at the moment. I'm driving a hundred mile round trip tomorrow to deliver myself.

Can anyone recommend a reliable service to deliver to Spain? I have used parcel2go for a few years & have always found them reliable & helpful if there was an issue. The latest experience has been the complete opposite.
I ordered a delivery to be collected this Monday by DHL & was aware of the 'snow' warnings on the website. I received an email confirming the invoice & another warning difficulties with warehouses overloaded due to the snow.
Monday evening no collection so I tried to phone. The line was closed at 5:45 pm & I waited for an hour on online help before giving up. Since then I have tried to phone, email & use the Online Help but can't get through. I phoned DHL who said there were no problems collecting from my postcode & that they had not received any orders to collect from there i.e. the order has not been passed on. I have now found their FB page (just search parcel2go on Facebook) with loads of similar complaints. My biggest complaint is their appalling Customer Service.

First of all MSE should stop listing this company on their Cheap Parcel Delivery page. Can anyone recommend any of the companies listed there or any others for delivery to Europe - who I am able to contact if necessary? As I'm going to have to cut my losses & find another service.
