BTW..,. to other people trying to get hold of Citylink - saynoto0870 has a very useful set of numbers for local depots (search for "City Link") have a guess at which is your local depot and try phoning. If you've had a missed delivery or collection before the info will be on the card.

The main city link number isn't taking calls, but if you call the local depots they can be more helpful - at least they were with me.

I tried the local number and still got busy message then cut off. Never again is an understatement for this company.

Had one of my parents sit in all day today and again no courier. I have now sent another message to Parcelmonkey requesting a refund or at the very least some explanation to this neverending fiasco.
• Finally on day 3 my parcel was collected.

While the main City Link phone number is in a state of melt-down, I think the best procedure to follow when CityLink fail to collect (or even the same day of a failed collection once it gets past say 5 or 6pm):

1) Find the local depot that would be doing the collection - a list of depots can be found by searching the city link website. The *local* phone number can be found on the saynoto0870 website.

2) Phone the depot - you may need to press 2 to say you want to hold on and wait.

3) ...wait... for a while

4) When you get through to someone if you give them the consigment number they can tell you if you have the correct depot, and can contact the driver. If you explain that a scheduled collection has already been missed then they are helpful.

5) The driver may still be out and about, so you may be in luck...

6) Otherwise put in a ticket request to parcel monkey, then wait for them to send a response and revise the label. In my case this was typically the next day.

7) Print out the new label, stick it on, rinse and repeat...

Or instead of being a gambler with the likes of My Hermes and City Link you could stack the odds in your favour and use the carrier that in my experience in both this recent snow and Januarys snow has still managed to perform - UPS. If any of them can get through UPS will. It might cost a pound or two more but isnt it worth it?

He will not be able to send you a PM - official company representatives like Matt are unable to send PM.s. That is the way the forums work. You can email him direct at matt@parcelmonkey.com

DHL update, from Despatch Bay (I've highlighted parts in red):

Scotland Christmas Deliveries
We have been informed by DHL that any parcels collected after 09/12/2010 destined for Scotland will not arrive in time for Christmas. Further to this, you will also find that all services to certain Scottish postcodes have been temporarily suspended meaning that you will not be able to create labels for these destinations until normal service is resumed. This is in order to clear the current back log of parcels in these areas.
Time Stamp: 09/12/10 – 17:00

Ad-Hoc Collections
Although roads in many areas have been clear for some time now, we’ve been dealing with the large number of parcels which proved undeliverable last week, whilst struggling to collect the large volume of parcels that were still left uncollected. This created an enormous backlog of parcels, which lead to Ad-Hoc collections being temporarily suspended.
DHL took the difficult decision to delay collection requests by a full 7 days, but have been working with extra capacity to clear the backlogs in all affected areas. Same day collections have now been restored for many areas of the UK. Other areas are still closed for collections. The upshot of this is that most users should be able to book a collection as normal again. When booking your collection please be sure to check back on the ‘Book a Collection’ page to see if you collection has been confirmed.
Unfortunately there is still widespread disruption covering most of Scotland and Northern England. Collections and deliveries in affected areas are unfortunately still likely to be severely delayed.
Please check the list of depots below who are still not accepting adhoc collections but will hopefully be restored as soon as possible.

Depots not accepting adhoc collections:
Aberdeen
Ashton
Croydon
Dartford
Chelmsford
Canterbury
Stoke on Trent
Perth
Preston
Redhill
Sheffield
Lichfield
Loughborough
Sheffield
Kilmarnock
Gateshead
Stockton
Goole
Lincoln
Edinburgh
Glasgow
Inverness
Hull
York

(I thought it a bit strange that Redhill and Croydon were on this list but there you go)

HTH anyone. Similar stories from other resellers & couriers (P2Go have a similar list up).

Hoping someone can help. I have emailed the Parcel Monkey rep too.
I'll try keep this brief...booked collection of a parcel way back on 1st December...never got collected...took ages to get response from Parcel Moneky then they said they would re book a collection and a new shipping label would be available on my account for me to print off. No new label and still no collection. I need this parcel collecting desperately as it is causing me alot of stress as I am getting hassle from the people waiting for the parcel!!

I've followed the advice posted further up by contacting my local depot of citylink but all they could advise to do was re book collection through Parcel Monkey but the call centre is closed and through the ticket system takes ages to get a response??!! I can't make a new, from scratch collection request as I can't afford to and I'm not sure it would be easy to get a refund anyway!
love my little man he is amazing :j
• It seems they stopped collecting on the 6th December.

They haven't resumed yet. Some info here: DHL suspends collections.

It seems TNT and others are collecting as normal.

The message is clear: Avoid DHL for the time being.
