we used to always have it at home as we normally had my gran over (she either came here or went to my uncles) but she passed away in the summer and spent last christmas in hospital which was a horrid time, so this will be the first christmas without her, so it will be quite a sad one.
there will be me, Dh my mum, and we have invited my mil and sil over, not to sure how we will do it in the future, but as my dh tends to work christmas depending on his shifts there doesnt tend to be much hassle at all. Please be nice to all moneysavers!

Simple for us, we bought our first house in 99 we said no visitors or visiting. We will see family on Boxing Day.
Works well for us and neither set of parents has a problem with it.
It gives DD plenty of time with her toys and this year is DS first Christmas.
Then it's kids bedtime and Champagne time!Money, money, money. It's great....but don't spend it all at once!0 -
I am really surprised by the amount of people who spend christmas day apart from their partner:eek:!
yes me too i would hate to be without partner at Christmas. It wont happen thankfully as long as we are both alive.
Yes it really hurts me to be apart from OH at Christmas, but my mother is alone (dad left when I was 1) and I dont want her to be alone

Me and my husband are spending Christmas just the two of us. It's the first one in our own house, plus my parents and brothers are off to Malaysia and his passed away some years ago! At the time when my folks booked the holiday I was a bit upset, I'm only 21 so Xmas has always been a totally family affair, but now I'm really looking forward to being all couply. I refuse to do a roast for 2 of us, so we're having lasagne, Ben & Jerry's and champagne!
I'm training to be a nurse so it may be one of the last Christmas Days spent at home!0 -

We do roasts all the time too! A beautiful organic chicken. Or a pork shoulder, which we had only a couple of days ago.

DD isn't always home for Sunday Dinner & its just the two of us.0 -
This is going to sound cold, but I just couldn't be doing with families who get stroppy if you don't spend Xmas together or what not. I know a couple who have been together for 15 years and STILL have to go to their respective parents on Xmas day (or there's hell to pay!) so never get to spend the day together in their own home. Parents like these should realise that their (adult!) kids have their own lives. Guilt trips and sulking are a HUGE turnoff for me, and anyone who did that would instantly make my mind up for me!

me & OH have been together 3 years now and have spent the last 2 xmasses together - at home. we're happy if people come round, but if they don't, well that's fine too.
I just can't understand people who treat it like some kind of popularity contest!0 -
