Melabarrie,
my mantra..
progress, not perfection
No one likes a smart alec, slipping up makes you human. So long as it's only once in a while!!
No point asking me about the 2k, I'd put it in the illogical rainy day stash!

melabarrie - guess what? You were in my thoughts today and you saved me £42!
So thank you!
"Why" you may ask....?
Well I went to John Lewis armed with a £10 voucher. Whilst I was there I tried on (four times) the most fabulous skirt. Kinda 50's style A line (but not hugely A line...very 'now'), knee length with a big bold black red & white print. It was fabulously flattering for me as I don't have the best legs in the world and I am very hour glass shape (read: small waist & big ar*e).
Basically it was the dogs whatsits and I LOVED IT. I wanted that skirt so much as I don't have many things for the approaching Summer. But it was £42. Not a fortune but not cheap either. I can't afford it anyway.
Anyway you popped into my mind and I thought about how disappointed you were when you fell of the wagon and my advice to you.....and I remembered my own feelings the last time I fell off myself. I held that thought....then put the skirt back (the 4th time) and walked out of the shop and came home.
I've got a face like a smacked ar*e this afternoon because I want the skirt but hey, I'll get over it. It's only a skirt. I would have felt such a hypocrite if I had bought it after doling out advice to you this weekend!
Anyway I am going to see if I can make any adjustments anywhere else over the next month to see if I can afford it after next pay day. If I can't, then I'll forget all about it. If I work hard to get the cash to buy it then I can buy it guilt free!
Thanks for sharing your story recently anyway...if you hadn't I may have been another £42 in debt today!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

oh my goodness Lookingahead you really made me feel good with your post. I think about all the advice on here all the time, and sometimes i think i never have anything valuable to contribute (only the occasional 'well done' or 'that's great' posts), so to know that my little story helped you save some dough really makes me feel great.
i almost want to go out and buy you the skirt myself!!!!!
a few amazon and ebay sales should get you that skirt in no time.
thank you so much. you really made my day:DMFW Newbie - #17. (#116 in 2019)
