Darn, I'll have to check my balance too! Maybe it's the old cynic in me but I wonder if the Dabs customers might be happily surprised to find a 3.4 processor instead of the one listed.0 -
i ended up with the dell dimension 3100 with works suite for £229 because the mid range 5100 i ordered was not available. i dont know much about computers but i thought id got a good deal because it seemed a better machine than the one id ordered plus it came with works suite. i also got my delivery refunded. im not so sure that i got a good deal after reading this thread but its a quiet machine and much faster than my old one.0

I ordered the cheapest at 149.00 including delivery and also had failed delivery twice. Was offered a better model instead which came yesterday. It really is a far superior machine and the cheapest we've found anywhere is 220.00. BT have now told me they will refund my p&p now too so it's down to 129.00
Personally I'm happy with this much better deal. It was worth the wait to get this bargain!Living on Earth can be expensive, but it does include an annual free trip around the Sun.0 -

well the never ending story... finally agreed with BT yesterday to have the 3000 as you guys explained the various bits and bobs to me, they also agreed to send me some speakers and a power cable for the monitor which should arrive today, so all in all complete PC for £ 300 not bad!
Until knock on the door this morning - city link van man ooh my speakers are here NO its only a 5150 the one they couldn't get!!!! !!!!!!

I think what you should do is phone BT and thank them very much for their generous compensation they have sent you for all the stress you have been under due to this!! And then I will take the spare one off of your hands to save you any extra stress!!!!
Kidding aside, I wish I had received the same sort of response from Dabs as all you lucky people who ordered from BT. I know it was a lot of hassle having to wait ages for the mess to be sorted, but eventually you all did well and got something that you were happy with. All I got from Dabs was an e-mail basically saying "sorry - we haven't got any so we are cancelling your order".
First time I have used Dabs and you know what they say about first impressions!
Anyway, littlemissfrugal, I hope you get it all sorted out soon and you can relax and enjoy your new toy.0 -
Littlemissfrugal - Looks like you have hit the jackpot. The machine is a 1Gb RAM 5150 with 250Gb hard drive probably 3.4 Pentium 4 (quick scan can't see where it says 3.4) and 16x DVD writer, full warranty until 21/11/2008. This is the machine originally advertised at £329 (or £349) and is currently on sale at Dabs at £499.99 + delivery. Didn't you order the £229 version?
If I were you I'd keep quiet and see what happens. I would be tempted to keep both machines (even if you have to pay for both) and sell the 3000 for a profit.0 -
Hi guys,
Can you advise on any kind of compensation I should ask for?! I bought a 3000 on the 20th May, hadn't arrived, received phone call asking if I want a HP one instead... I agreed as it was the same spec at the same price. Week later nothign arrivedemailed them received phone call asking for an order number I had already included.
Just called again and told I would receive a phone call today or tomorrow. I do think i'm entitled to some form of compensation especially since I missed abirthday guideline!
What do you think? What should I ask?!
Thanks0
