If I were you I'd keep quiet and see what happens.
I suggest you stop contacting them immediately, forget the monitor cable and speakers, sell the 3000 for about £200+ and keep the 5150, buy your own speakers for £15 and power lead for about £2.You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
thanks guys - yes it was the £249.99 i ordered - i don't know how you deciper all that info - i really don't know what to do it just proves they don't know what they are doing!
you may have guessed i am a complete technophobe so do i deserve this - it actually makes me want to learn a bit about them so thats good.
i am going to see what OH says when he comes home i guess i could sell the 3000 (saves me waiting in for the courier) i will ask around i guess i would have got more for it with the monitor but they are collecting that tommorrow.
the next thing is do i ring BT or not .....erm maybe tommorrow...i'm living in a parallel universe0 -

When I switched on it asked me to register Norton - for 3 years too... Normally you are looking at up to £20 per year for Norton though many people will refuse to have it on their machine. I think it is fine - especially for nothing.
You don't need to worry too much about what the specs mean except you have two machines - if you were going to sell you many get up to £300 for the 3000 and up to £500 for the 5150 (at a rough guess) given that the warranty on them is so good.0 -

Can you advise on any kind of compensation I should ask for?! I bought a 3000 on the 20th May, hadn't arrived, received phone call asking if I want a HP one instead... I agreed as it was the same spec at the same price. Week later nothign arrivedemailed them received phone call asking for an order number I had already included.
Just called again and told I would receive a phone call today or tomorrow. I do think i'm entitled to some form of compensation especially since I missed abirthday guideline!
What do you think? What should I ask?!
Thanks
I got the HP and they refunded the postage....the HP was a more expensive unit anyway (£210 inc vat and postage from dabs) and the £19.99 refund on postage was another bonus.
Try what you can, but don't be dissapointed if they won't give more compo as its a good deal anywayWelcome, rogerramjet.

After numerous phone calls and emails, most of which went unreplied I've just come home to find a Dell box in my hall. The thing is I've just opened it to find a (new style) 3100 inside, not the 5150 I ordered. They've also emailed me today to inform me of the delivery refund due to the 18 days for delivery, and that my computer was on it's way.
I ordered the £229 Dimension 5150, 19" monitor and 2.1 speakers. The other items arrived more than a week ago, and this other tower today. Everything except the deilvery note says 5150, so I'm a trying to work out if this is a 3100 of better spec.
Could someone help me out here please, as I can't remember what the spec was for the (new style) 3100 they had on BT Shop. I'd just like to see if I've been over charged at £229 for a cheaper system, or if this one is indeed of a higher spec as BT have said nothing about an alternate model at any time. The service tag is FJQC12J.
Thanks0 -
as i said above i ordered the mid range 5100 but received the dimension 3100 instead, in comparing the specs i thought the 3100 actually seemed a better computer plus it came with works suite, but then again i dont know much about computers0

Your machine also has only 512MB of memory, and no graphics card (it uses onboard graphics).
I personally would be disappointed if I'd bought a 5100 and got delivered that. Looks like your machine has been sent to littlemissfrugal by mistake!
At the very least I would expect either a replacement with what I ordered, or a BIG discount (say £100).
EDIT: Just checked the original spec from this forum and the £229 machine was supposed to have a 128MB graphics card, which you haven't got. More grounds for complaint I would say.You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -

Well - the system you have received looks to me more or less the same spec as the system you ordered - except that it is in a 3100 box instead of a 5150 box... which I think means it is less expandable. Biglugs will be able to confirm. In short you should be able to negotiate a lower price. It is still good value for money - but it's not as high a spec as you ordered.
EDIT : Biglugs posted at the same time as me - but he said that your machine only had 512Mb of RAM - but so did the machine you ordered. It is the motherboard that is really the difference which limits expandability - plus as he mentions you have no dedicated graphics card.0 -
I finally received my dispatch note today for delivery tomorrow and I'm beginning to wonder just what they've sent me now. It was supposed to be the £249 5150 model. I have a sneaking suspicion it will be the 3100. Here's hoping it's not.0
