"I personally would be disappointed if I'd bought a 5100 and got delivered that. Looks like your machine has been sent to littlemissfrugal by mistake!"
Don't bring me into it i'm just an innocent bystander - i've had enough stress
i haven't even plugged the thing in yet - gonna do it now.
BTW my speakers never camei'm living in a parallel universe0 -
Thanks for the replies
I'll definately give BT a ring over this. Out of interest, can anyone remember the price this system was being sold for on the site, if indeed this particular one was (or the nearest one to it). I'd still rather have the system I ordered, but if need be it would be good to have a price to mention regarding what this system was being sold for when I ordered.
The graphics card issue is a bit annoying, as the person I'm giving it to has some sight issues so I was thinking of perhaps changing this at some stage to another display adapter, or taking advantage of a DVI connection if it happened to come with one.
The most annoying bit about it is the lack of communication from BT as at no time did they suggest I'd be receiving an alternative to the 5150, and they couldn't help with questions as 'there is no way of contacting the warehouse as it's already been released for dispatch'
I required to have my credit card cancelled last week due to 15 fraudulent transactions ranging from India to Spain for plane tickets appearing over a day or two. The amusing bit is BT took so long to take payment from my credit card, I believe their requests will have been declined by the credit card company today. Considdering my patience for delivery etc..I bet they'll still be quick to have their say regarding this!
EDIT: I've just had a look around on a few forums and found this mentioned:
DELL FAMILY DESKTOP DIMENSION 3100 With Micrsoft Works Suite £299.99 £299.99
I'm wondering if this is the one I've received. It certainly came with Works Suite (although I have no use for it). It looks like they've sent me the next one up in price range, mine costing £229. Although seemingly more expensive, it doesn't seem a better machine all things considdered.
EDIT 2: Google cache of the £299 - 3100

Just in case you were wanting to contact BT, I got a freephone number the other day when I was chasing my order. Apparently they use the same team for BT Broadband enquiries - which has a freephone number - and the BT Shop - which has a national rate number! Anyhow, I was told to ring the broadband team on 0800 085 6161 and say I want to discuss my order. Hope that helps.0

Well, fair play to BT. They delivered the correct PC (the 5150) this morning and refunded the cost of delivery without me even having to ask so I'm happy.0
-
Me too! A 5150 turned up today. Delivery refunded yesterday.
I did send them a moan on Tuesday, pointing out the lower spec of the offer they made, namely the integrated graphics, as well as the monitor not having the speakers it was advertised with. Don't know if that helped, but I'm now happy with the outcome.
Might invest the £19.99 delivery in a soundbar for the monitor!!0 -
woo hoo my speakers arrived this morning the delivery man is as puzzled as i am (its been the same man each time) he took the spare monitor and said "see you again" and he probably will
has anyone else ended up with 2? i still haven't rang BT mind you i have been at work and it all seems less urgent somehow...i'm living in a parallel universe0 -
Its been a bit of long haul (including reformatting my old hard drive, fresh install pf Windows Me & foolishly losing a batch of v. important photos when it looked like I wouldn't be geting my order) but it's been worth it for me.
BT offered the Advanced 5150 with 250GB hard drive, both a DVD and DVD rewrite drive, card reader, LAN card, sound card & it looks like a next day service contract til 22/11/08 which was advertised at £549 for £349 (BT refunded the delivery charge). Quite a bargain. Just need to get my head around windows XP, and how many of the 35 or so possible windows updates I really need to install!?!
Would be interested in hearing if there's some sort of owner registration process to go through with Dell in case I need to call on their support service in the future?0 -

Just fill in the details there and they will transfer the warranty over to you. Alternatively, give them a call. You'll find all the information you need regarding the previous "owner" on the cardboard box.
As soon as I have my PC up and running I'll be transferring mine across too.0 -
Ah cheers for that0

Many thanks to BT Shop, everything eventually got sorted out! and have now got an HP machine instead of the Dell. To my shock, when i checked, the 'upgraded' HP machine was lower in grade than the origional pc! But it was sorted out quickly today by Claire, and i was compansated to allow me to upgrade the machine to the right specifications, and given a refund on delivery charges.
Thumbs up for Bt shop, they managed to get everyone sorted out :beer:0
