is there any other means of getting sound with this monitor does anyone know

Same way I do - speakers! Or the Dell soundbar. That's your choice I'm afraid.

Well Paint, looks like you made the right choice. I have just had an e-mail from Dabs to say the PC is discontinued and they have cancelled my order.

I feel a bit disappointed now.

Sorry to hear that Anic ; if you can wait until the next bargain though you've probably made the right decision as the next model up is almost a whopping 60% price hike (and who's to say this one will turn up either :rotfl:).

are BT rubbish or what - great this morning when the nice man knocked on my door at 7.15am with both my replacement monitor and PC - but after checking its the same monitor (no speakers) or power lead and the unit is a dimension 3000 with works suite great except i ordered the 5100 at £ 100 more and that is now showing out of stock - i think the lot will go back 2 days off work and nothing to show for it

That's awful, but how did you know which two days to take off work?

BT have told me mine is dispatched from warehouse but not when the courier will deliver.

To be fair, I've found the call centre to be excellent, but they could do with a tracking system.

i didn't know which days i assumed it wouldn't be monday as i ordered sunday so took tues/weds off and am on late shift today but to get theses swapped i would be looking at more time off as they don't tell you which days they are coming. Yes the callcentre staff are great but methinks they are more geared up to selling smaller stuff and should have more technical knowlege of PCs if they are going to retail them

seen the PC World grabbit so maybe a trip there is in order at least you know they are !!!!!! wouldn't bother but DD geared up for this PC now

Spent ages on the phone this morning to Dell and BT. Dell will send me a power cable (meantime will use old monitor cable). Dell confirmed what Biglugs said about speaker bar and quoted £50/60 to purchase it...tho I think the website states it's cheaper.

Relayed this info to BT and they're now forwarding a report for investigation. Someone will ring me back - but could take up to 48 hours.

Hope my desktop arrives OK today.

I got an email to say my BT Dell 5100 / 5150 machine was dispatched for on Wednesday - I took delivery of it on Tuesday !!
