:j Thanks to the op, I'm awaiting delivery of one of the £249 models from BT (£229 model with extra software:cool: )

I maybe getting ahead of myself but I just wondered if one of the techie people could tell me if it's possible/and or easy enough to add a TV Tuner thingy so I can get get freeview

And if it is possible, how much should I expect to pay, and is an aerial required. Sorry to be thick :rotfl: Thanks in advance ;)

Oops, forgot to say, I've also ordered one of the Dell 17" TFTs

Errr.... Yes you need an aerial!! :-) Just the same as a TV needs an aerial....sojme have an antenna but I would be suspicious as to how good they are.

The easiest way to add a TV tuner is to buy a USB one and just plug it in the back. You could instead buy and internal PCi card. For Freeview prices start about £40... have a look here..

Not recommending Scan as delivery charges are high but find the website easy to use for looking up products.

This one looks good for an internal one..

Internal ones are easy to fit...just flip open the base unit and stick it in next to the other cards in the bottom right hand corner...the only fiddly bit is getting the empty slot covers out where you want to put the new card in.

If this worries you maybe the USB versions would be better. Maybe someone else can recommend specific makes - I haven't used one.

Wow, I just checked the link for the internal one.....I didn't realise you could record onto HD with these cards

Thanks for this and other advice you've provided in this thread Searcher2, you're a gem. I'm looking forward to finding out how much warranty comes with my pc thanks to your info ;)
  • Can I ask those of you who have already received your new PCs who delivered it? I'm still waiting for mine to turn up, ordered early hours Sunday morning. Hope it's not one of the dodgy couriers who always cause me problems, like not bothering to deliver to me unless they have other deliveries in the area or like one keeps doing, leaving my goods outside. I don't live in the most honest of communities!

Mine came via a man with a white rented van, only the rental company's name on it. He was a very very man, very helpful.

  • the company who drive the green and yellow van delivered mine (soz don't know the name) the driver was extremely nice as i queried the fact there was only one box as i ordered a monitor also, he said the other package would probably be on his round tommorrow and if i was out ( i have an appointment tommorrow) he would leave it with a neighbour if i left a note in the window requesting which one, he even gave me the approximate time he would be in the area.

Now to my problem i ordered the 17" monitor with built in speakers but i can't see the speakers anywhere on it can anyone tell me where i should be looking before i ring BT and make a complete numpty of myself.. Also is it usual for the same order to be a split delivery or is this another problem.
