Getting out of my comfort zone

  • Had another walk last night and went for something to eat, was back in time for Kirsty, but missed the end because Mum rang. Chatting to another guest in the lounge he commented that there was nowhere to eat, which I thought odd, as there are loads of places. Turns out he and a colleague had done the pubs first, and nowhere serves after 9! wouldn't bother me.

Back home now, was about to go to the chippy then remembered there was still some chilli in fridge and some rice left over. Heated the rice up, then watched jimmy's Farm and he said you shouldn't heat rice up. Oops!

Back to spending info, kept inside my 'hotel budget' but need to be very careful, as this agency's payment terms are different and not sure when I'll get paid. Once it all sorts itself out should be better off, even allowing for extra costs, so may finish a cc before Christmas :T

Will watch the Apprentice, then probably bed.

I've heard that about rice, but always do and it's ok. I just think it needs to be piping hot to kill any bacteria that may be lurking.

I watched Kirstie and have to say I couldn't tell the difference between the before and after pics :rotfl:
Saw the book in Asda today for £10 so might request that for Christmas - it has photos from the first series of her house so I'd like that.

Hope all's still ok with the job :)

No I haven't seen the website, but I do find a lot of the stuff on the programme is prefixed by ' you can find a course' .

Interesting reading the news about Rpoints and cashbackkings. I gave up on both of them a while ago, and don't bother with the daily clicks, but got an email yesterday about Lightspeed merging with some other company. At least you can get the money out quick.I think we are being told something. Will still stick with quidco but see it as a bonus.

Still not sure when I'm going to get paid for new job, interesting working out my pay for this week, I need to retain for hmrc the sum of -£118.25 - do you think they'll buy my food for me this weekend :)
So budget is going to be quite tight this weekend, but still have to pay for digs next week. Try to stick to £35 ~((eek!))

  • Second lot of washing on, not sure how much of it I'll get dry. The sky is quite blue at the moment, so have put some of it on the line.

    Bathroom done
Sort of tidying in living room done
Kitchen started, bin emptied and sitting there with disinfectant in. Next job is floor.
Shopping list done, off to the shops in a bit

This afternoon its qualifying for the Grand Prix, will do some ironing while watching that, and then hoover. sister wants to borrow carpet cleaner, so will have sort out all its bits and bobs.

Tomorrow is more Grand Prix, bedrooms and crafting. will try to find the wire for the camera and post pictures.

Also need to think what on earth to buy Mum for her birthday, she's 75 in a couple of weeks.
Oh yes, and auntie is still in hospital, having lied to them about the fact that there was someone at home to look after her. So she wasted a week when they could have been sorting out a care package for her. Families....

    Have a good weekend :)

Sounds a nice pottery weekend, hope the weather stays good for you. I'm off to my sister's this afternoon - just one bus journey now, thank heavens, so I really hope it doesn't pour down again here either.

Hiya Gill, The sun's just started shining here, so we'll be out in the garden and leave my FiL to watch the GP qualifying in peace!

Hope you have a good day.

gilligansyle - whenever I eat alone in restaurants/hotels, I always try to take a book or newspaper to read. It gives you something to do whilst waiting for the food. Lots of people do the same if you look around the dining rooms. It tends to be the waiting for the food etc. that is the time when you need something to occupy yourself. Once I got into that routine it doesn't seem so bad.
  • Thanks for that se - its getting easier, but I'm still uncomfortable. I'm finding that brasserie type places are easier as they are less formal. The hotel restaurant tends to be ok as most of the other guests are business people, so are at single tables. You wouldn't think it mattered these days, but I think it does. Also you'd think at my age I'd have stopped being self conscious but still am.
