It's not just women, lots of men if the expenses allow use room service instead, the excuse is that they're still able to work while waiting for the food. So don't think it's a feminine insecurity thing, it's a general insecurity thing for both sexes.

For me it was having something to do, if you're waiting for the meal with nothing to do other than look around the room without 'staring' at people, it makes you more self conscious. So going down with a plan of action of what to do while waiting does help.

I agree with Se. I once got stranded in Amsterdam 6 months pregnant  and went to eat in the hotel restaurant. I felt really self conscious. Luckily I had a magazine but my eyes were glued to it and I didn't dare lift my head up!
  • It's not as nice a day as yesterday, glad I got stuff dry, only problem is that now theres more ironing to do.

I'm going to try leaving at a different time tomorrow morning. Leaving to get there for 9 means hitting lots of traffic at all the bad points; Runcorn Bridge, Chester, Wrexham. So will have a think about going earlier. Thanks for the input macgirl and se999 will find myself a book small enough to put in my bag,

Did quite well on the food spending yesterday:-
£7.80 in Iceland, farmfoods and wilko's
    £21.49 in Morrisons
    £4.04 in butchers

Leaves me with about £1 - from the grocery budget. But need to go to Asda so will go over that slightly. Some of the Morrisons things are to be put away for Christmas though, so will move money out of Christmas budget so still OK really.
Last night I sorted out a blanket chest and found some cross stitch and tapestry stuff I'd made but never had made into anything. Not sure what to do with them though. Will have a think about how they could be made into pressies.

Have a good day if you're reading.

Morning! Those sound like a nice project to take with you, maybe, to turn them into stuff? And certainly, leaving earlier is a better bet for the length of travel - it does leave you with more time *at* work - but maybe you can do work, and maybe you can do craft projects :D
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Left early today, but it didn't help as I hit the traffic at this end instead  I did mean to get back on here last night but was looking at the pictures of Shaun's shop on facebook, so went back and read his diary, so that kept me busy.

I'll take some photos of the craft stuff, and put them on my blog, may come up with some ideas. I've brought a stamp pad and some stamps with me, so tomorrow will do some crafting, tonight I've got to finish a report.

So off for something to eat, then back to finish report and watch that Good Life thing with Sue Perkins and Giles whathisname, as that's about all I can find.

  • I didn't know you had a blog will have to check it out.

I do the book thing too if I am eating alone or a puzzle book

    Yuck to traffic

Can you set your blog as your homepage and then we can find it pretty please!

I took a suduko puzzle out with me last night as it was the only thing I could find that fitted in my bag.

I will sort my blog out, it's one of the things on my 50 day list; its mainly random craft stuff.

  • Early start today. Have meeting to show my findings over the last few wewhen its properly updated will put it as home page. eks and discuss way forward and timescales, so hopefully will know better how long this job will last. There is loads needs to be done, but whether they have the resources, both people and money, is another thing. There is a willingness, otherwise they wouldn't have brought me in to look at it, but that's fine in theory, the practice is something else.

So true, the reality of a new person coming in and disrupting things, even if they know thats what they hired the new person to do, is difficult to deal with, for everyone. All the best with it.
