  • Quite pleased, I've updated sig and the total is well lower than I thought it would be.
Considering I was unemployed for 6 months, thats not too bad.
The mortgage is the one that shocked me, its amazing how little overpayments have made such a difference. Most of the cards etc. had the interest frozen a few years ago, when I was with CCCS, or are genuinely 0%.

  • I am very tired today, so DS is off to the chippy in a minute.

Update on the 'wooziness' from a few weeks ago. I stopped taking sandwiches for lunch, took leftovers instead, and also cut down on the amount of toast, and although I am tired at night, that is to be expected as I wake at 5. But the last few weekends I haven't really been as tired so will keep up with reducing bread and see if it still makes a difference. But I really do need to lose weight, I found myself wheezing today, so not happy about that.

    Money for weekend

    £40 petrol in car
    £25 gas and electric

    £7.50 for parking next week
£3 in somerfield on way home
so again will try to limit myself to £40 for the week for groceries, have lots in the freezer, so this will mainly be for fresh stuff.
Mum is giving me back some of the money she borrowed, so can put that in savings.

Grand Prix this weekend so will plough through the ironing while that's on.

Hiya, good to hear that you have sorted the wooziness yourself :T I think there is definitely something in giving up bread. Much as I love it :o
But if I do ever cut it out my energy levels do soar.....

I think dairy is another problem and when I've gone without again I feel a positive difference - just clearer and less mucusy - if that's not TMI.

Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend :)

Glad the wooziness has improved... I find eating bread badly effects my weight so tend to avoid it where poss.

Sounds like things are going well tho! Really well done on the sig!

Off to read some diaries and re-compose my original post, otherwise, what I was going to say now won't make sense.

  • Reading MG thread, up to page 64. Just a note in case I lose track.

Bread maker is on, raisin bread, so will last all week for breakfasts. Cutting down on bread for sandwiches is leaving me craving bread of some sort.
Was going to put slow cooker on but realised have no room in freezer! Need to eat whats in there faster.

Off to Mr M. for petrol. Its the cheapest around and I think I must be due for a voucher soon. By the time I finish there and trundle round Wilko's, the local shops will be open so will see what I can pick up. Also off to Mum's, as the weather is unpredictable, she has offered to do bedding for me. She can do it in the week, put it on the line, but is around so that she can get it in if it rains, and put it on the airer instead. I only have today, can't really chance putting washing out during the week, as generally it rains at about lunchtime, so the weekends washing is stuff that is small enough to go on the airer if necessary.

I also need to think about Christmas - have sorted lots of craft stuff out, so cards, tags, boxes aren't a problem. It's deciding what to make, its a while since I did candles or soap, so may do them this year. i've still got £30 worth of vouchers for a local craft shop so will make time next weekend to go there and see what I can pick up.

    Hi Gill

I have started thinking about xmas too... Started to make a list of people to buy for and started to think about what to get... I ordered MIL's birthday pressie yesterday - one of those digital picture frames - I want to get BIL and other relatives to help me put pictures on so needed to order it way in advance so there is a good selection of pictures on there for her....

I about an hour away from you Gill so if you ever wanted to meet up for some card making or whatever we possibly could.... Just a thought... PM me if interested and I will tell you where I live...

  • right here is part of the post I lost this morning.

Thanks go to Auntie thing for turning up unexpectedly yesterday and forcing me to run round the house like a mad thing, tidying up etc. All the stuff that should have gone to the tip ages ago was put in the car, other things have been clearly labelled charity shop or ebay, and put back under the stairs - because that is now a nice clear space.

It also meant that when my brother rang to say he was visiting Dad's grave and was going to call in, I didn't have to charge round like a lunatic. His OH has been to my sisters, and her house is VERY tidy, always. Mine is a complete contrast. She has stuff in display cabinets, I have everything out where I can see it, etc. I was also able to tell him not to go overboard on flowers as there was already some there.

So it was nice to see people, albeit for a short time and in not the best circumstances.

Hopefully it will stay the same, but I thought DS was back in work tomorrow, but its just that his holidays finish today,he is not on the rota until Thursday, so he has 3 days to muck it up for me.

One of the other things I posted about and lost, was an idea a friend came up with. I was talking about wanting to downsize when DS moves out, but he will have difficulty renting somewhere as he currently uses 2 bedrooms, one for his DJ stuff. If he moved out, he thinks he would have difficulty sharing, except with a girl, because of being an only child. My friend asked, 'why are you so tied to this house?' - my answer that I need to spend a lot of money on it to make it marketable, didn't wash at all. He suggested, why can't I rent it out to DS and a friend (!) that way, he solves his space problem, gets somewhere in his budget, I don't have to worry about it being tenanted etc. Needs thinking about, but it may be a way forward. I could then either buy somewhere based on my income plus rental income, or just rent until I decide what to do.

One of DS friends works for a builder and is desperate to move out of his parents but can't afford to, so maybe we could do a deal.
