Getting out of my comfort zone

Today seemed like a completely wasted day as all the work we put in came to nothing as one of the suppliers failed to deliver, so we have to go through it all again next week. Have a splitting headache now.
I have nearly £30 in my purse, and nothing to buy! I think whats happened is that I draw out the same amount each week, which is for the food, petrol and gas/leccie but I also take money out of the account DS pays his keep into. He also puts money in there so that I can get specific things he asks for that I wouldn't buy, pepsi max, good crisps, snacks. As he's been off, he's been cooking for himself and not eating so much junk, so I haven't spent that money. Will put it in a separate envelope as a 'just in case'.
I've also got to ring the bank as had a problem with my card in Mr M last week when it was first declined, and then accepted, but the transaction is showing twice! It's only £14 and years ago I wouldn't have bothered, but will just check that it will be reversed.
Nearly forgot to put new tax disc on the car. Thats the problem with not going along to the post office for it, in those days it was automatic to put it on straight away. This one has been in the envelope from the DVLA and I just ignored it.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

I am like that with tax discs too!
So it sounds like you are managing to spin your money out really well still!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Pay day today.:j
So have done online banking, paid mortgage and virginmedia bill. Moved money to no.2 account to pay some DD's due out in next few days, and made some rounding down payments to credit cards. Must get back into posting those on PAD, keep forgetting.
Budget for weekend.
Still have £20 of DS money from last week and £14 in purse - sp that is going into the piggy bank.
Allow £45 petrol
£25 gas and leccie
£7.50 car parking - may use change in slummy jar for this and move the £7.50 from current account to savings.
If I can get away with £40 for the rest of the shopping it will leave £100 in the bank.
Need to get things like milk, veg, fruit etc. but have a freezer full of food.
I've also got a fair amount in vouchers on various survey sites so need to think about which ones I can use for Christmas - especially if I can get electronic vouchers and then go through quidco too!

In one way - how good does it feel to have "spare" money that you CAN lend without going too short? Sounds like a good place to be to me - Have a good weekend0

I really need to work it all out, the debts in my sig are the credit cards that are still showing on my credit report. There is also a load of disputed stuff that I am making token payments on, and the secured loan which is the one I've been concentrating on reducing.
Went with friend to IKEA yesterday as she wanted some storage stuff, but she is sooo fussy. I only got a few bits, new mugs and a few plates. We got back to her's and she was showing me what she needed the boxes for, 2 of them in a 3 bedroomed house, and the other 2 bedrooms are just full of clutter. She needs a clear out first! She also has these cute little drawer things, I think she said they are mojo(sp?) in Trafford Centre, but they cost £12 each:eek:Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

hi Gill
Hope you are having a relaxing, fun day!
Still not got your knack of having such control over my spending... I am at least recording it now on a spreadsheet which is a startAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

The control is because its necessary - I use cash, rather than card as its too easy to overspend on a card. With cash, you can only spend what you have. I take more than I have budgeted for but thats because I have never had a completely empty purse!
Did well with the shopping yesterday by avoiding Asda.
Spent
£11 Iceland
£3.50 Somerfield
£3.95 butchers
£3.10 greengrocers
£1.50 on little cakes in IKEA
£7.99 in M&S but using voucher so not counting it.
So have a tenner and a load of change left. Will probably need bread etc. in the week as DS is off, but maybe he will go and buy it himself. He also owes me whatever it was he 'borrowed'.
This afternoon I've been baking; well the breadmaker did some of it. That's what I get for watching that British Bake Off programme. I've made some scones and used up leftovers and some old cheese to make a couple of quiches. So thats lunch sorted for a while.
