  • Am very jealous of under the stairs events, I ventured under there yesterday and was as usual a disaster. Leaving well alone.

    Have a fab Friday.

Payday yesterday so have moved money round etc.
Cupboard under stairs will probably not get any further work done as DS now on nights, so his mates tend not to turn up.

Yesterday seemed to spend loads of money, but have checked and its all, sort of, budgeted for.

    £7 Asda - budgeted
    £4 Wilko's - budgeted,except for £1 for a brolly
    £15 - petrol
£4 - chippy tea for DS on way to work - not in budget but can be absorbed.

So have spend £15 out of food budget, leaves £30 for the rest. But there is still lots in the freezer, at least 2 pizzas and 3 portions of chilli, 1 portion of curry and some other containers that have lost their labels. I don't need to buy any cleaning/washing stuff this week, its purely food.

Tea last night, for me, was stir fried veg and noodles, there is still some left for tonight, so total cost per meal 75p. Not too bad.

    Todays shopping will be roughly
    £5 Iceland
    £3 butchers
    £5 greengrocers
    £15 -£20 - supermarket

Off to clean the bathroom :D

OOh, that is an early post, isn't it! Ouch .... I've never quite got into the habit of checking the shopping budget like that - I do like the sound of it, you have a lot more knowledge about what you're doing that way. Something to start in Haywards Heath, I think - my desk will be in the 2nd bedroom/office, not the living room, that sort of thing will be easier, I'll have a piece of paper up on the wall somewhere.

    Have a good one.

KC - I found that money was just sort of disappearing, no idea where, so if I keep a proper spending diary its easier. I don't always put it here, but its ALWAYS written down, or at least I keep the receipts and do it later.

Butchers and greengrocers I find that the food is fresher, so lasts longer, and I can just buy what I need. But I am lucky that there are still some small shops around.

Mum has just rung and casually mentioned that she needs to be at the airport for 7 tomorrow. No mention of which airport and which 7 (?!) but suppose will have to actually ask her now. It's just the fact that she assumed, without actually asking me if I could take her.

Off to take her to the shops, bet she hasn't even changed her money yet, and is planning to do it at the airport.

    Hi Gill

Just catching up again! Sounds like some good prospects re poss perm job on the horizon! I know the journey is the pits but having a steady job really makes a difference financially.

I have my fingers and toes crossed in the hope of being made perm in September when I've been in the job 6 months.... it would make a massive difference to our finances, life planning etc. I have to admit tho - that if I do get made perm we are planning to carve out some money each month for family gym membership and try and get us all fit and healthy again. We are also planning a holiday abroad next summer if I get offered the job permanently. There is enough slack in our budget with 2 incomes that we could do that and still hopefully be credit card and loan free by next summer. All that would be left is OH's student loans that they have never chased him on....

    Todays jobs done

Shopping - £14.84 in supermarket so well under budget so far.

Went round to see Mum and she has just assumed I will take her to the airport. So off to Manchester tomorrow.
She hadn't changed her money, so took her to the Post Office - too short notice to really check it out. Told her not to use her debit card while she's away as I think hers is an expensive one, as its a building society, not a bank.

Fingers crossed for you getting made permanent, its about time a bit of luck came your way, and if you can give yourselves a bit of comfort while still seriously getting rid of the debts that would be great. You'll have so much spare next year, looking forward to reading about it.

At least I know I won't find a loo at the back of my cupboard :D

Inspired by Mac, I have got the VAX out and done the hall carpet, will do the stairs tomorrow, and start to clear the landing.

May spend some extra money, as saw a chest of drawers in a second hand shop for only £12 but I only had shopping money with me and didn't want to chance being short for shopping. They are open tomorrow.

DS has just rung, he went to a friends before work and has arrived in work drunk. He was only out an hour or two. Surprised they didn't send him home, but he's old enough to [STRIKE]run[/STRIKE] ruin his own life

Thanks guys, but the only problem with being an early bird is that I tend to stay on here in order to stay awake otherwise I doze off watching telly at around half 9.

That's me too! I can do 10 times more on a morning - now I am done in, so all my good intentions have gone down the pan.
