Thanks folks, had a lovely day yesterday, there's not much in the way of parks where I work, as opposed to at home which strangely has a lot of them. But I went out round a local bit of green and did feel better.

macgirl, you are right, its something to do with being the eldest maybe. I am the one that runs round after everyone, and get very little in return, not that that should be a consideration -(really bad grammar there, sorry)

..and then I got home and had one of those rows that blows up out of nothing, so once I had fairly thrown DS out of the house to go to work I went round to a mates for a moan. She is in a similar boat, in that she is not the eldest but is the only girl among a family of seven, and it assumed that she will spend all her spare time with her mother, who, it must be said, lives 30+ miles away in Manchester.

Came home from friends and became the cleaning whirlwind. I sorted out loads of business type paperwork, shredded lots of old statements etc. Found some nice boxes I'd bought ages ago, so made them up, and tidied paperwork away into them. The shredding freed up some nice wicker baskets so have used them for things like hairbrushes and the sort of toiletries that I don't leave in the bathroom, moisturiser body spray etc. So ended up as a positive day.

Today have started on buying stuff for Christmas(!) Nothing major, but went to the pound shop and bought the *tat* that will go in the crackers and also some stuff to make cards with.
So spend today was £5 but it will pay for itself.
Took lunch into work, not much chance for a walk, as was in meetings, but will definitely go out tomorrow. not sure if there are any footpaths along the Manchester Ship Canal at this end, so may investigate that, and at least its fresh air and gets me out.

That was a bit of a ramble, sorry.....

But what a nice ramble. I don't know that I'll be in a situation to make my own cards this year (and I have some from last year, when I got too ill to do anything). 2011 then!

They must have paths along the Ship Canal, surely? That'd be a great walk, if there's a boat that goes by - mind you, I've never yet seen one when I've gone over the bridge.

Hope you have a good day tomorrow - sounds like you turned the "moan" to good effect, setting up your nice smellies in the baskets :)

Car goes in for service today, couldn't believe the faffing round had to do to get a courtesy car. I know there's a slow puncture in one of the tyres, but other than that should be Ok.

In work today, will start with a VERY organised list and try and stick to it. The team I am working in should have 10 people, and only one of them is actually in post, the rest of the work is covered by 2 of us, so its easy to get distracted.

Have a good day anyone reading.

Car has now got new windscreen wipers and needs new front tyres so not a bad visit to the garage really.
Was driving home listening to the radio and there was a very odd programme on the radio, well, odd to me; I don't normally turn on the radio to hear people talking about how they manage constipation! In detail I didn't really want.

DS is on his last shift, off for a couple of days so my nights of peace will be gone. Spent silly money today, because garage wasn't open so I bought a 'posh coffee' and a muffin.

Off to have tea, jacket spud and beans, cheese? Cheese on toast, beans on toast? Oh and there are some eggs. The choices are endless :rotfl:

I hope you're not linking up those food choices with constipation :rotfl: aren't talk shows *completely* weird? We have to have them on sometimes in the car, because a traffic report is stuck in the middle of one, and we can be tearing our hair out very easily :rotfl:

:rotfl:didn't even think of that! I do find it odd the things people are prepared to discuss. As for the food they were the easy choices available that didn't involve cooking, just heating stuff up.

Its absolutely pouring down here, and has been for a few hours.
No major plans yet other than find my way to work, will probably do a bit of food shopping at lunchtime, just something for tea, but still have some cash left. Need to sort out the change jar so that I have change for the car park, which is fast becoming an absolute pain.

Morning! Gill, it was you mentioning your blackout curtains, wasn't it? How do you wash them? Do you know if all blackout material is washable, or do you have to dry clean some?

    **confused smiley**

As far as change goes, btw - I get it from the bank, as I often need to give change to clients. But you're right, its a pain.

Yes it was me that mentioned blackout curtains. We have them because of DS working nights, but I take the lining off and wash the curtains separately but thats more because of the colour. I wash mine on a gentle wash, and a friend told me they can't be tumble dried because of something in the lining.

It's hardly stopped raining all day, so didn't go out at lunchtime except to change library books. May have someone to car share with as one of the temps on another section lives quite near me, will see what happens.
