That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid, nipping to the paper shop and buying something just to get the change and then the rest of the tenner just disappears somehow. May use my Christmas savings pot, take out a few quids worth of change and put the notes in the jar, so long as I remember to replace the silver:Dsavingholmes wrote: »change for car parking is a complete pain - and leads me into temptation - I have to break into a note for change etc... and once it is change it kind of runs away...Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Thanks! I washed the curtains yesterday, so I'll put the liners on the gentlest wash I've got tomorrow.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

KC - you really won't know yourself once you've moved.
It sounds a bit like my house, was talking to DS the other night and he said the house has always been like this, but I have photos to prove it hasn't but don't know when the downward slide started. So trying to clear years worth of 'stuff' will not be a quick job, and then there's the 'rolling maintenance' that hasn't been done mainly due to lack of money.
Payday today, so have moved money around, paid a few bills. I'm quite please with my decision to pay the mortgage via online banking rather than DD because it means that at the moment I am overpaying slightly and also I know that what is left in the bank is 'spendable' money, so its giving me a clearer idea, rather than always having to allow for it.
That said, at the moment there is £320 in my current account, because there was money left from last week, so I *may* be able to put at least £150 into savings. :TDebts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Things going well then, it seems!
Online banking has been the making of me I reckon - I would certainly not have as much control and have made as much progress as I have done if it did not exist!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Sounds good to me. Thanks for the kinship - and thats it, it *does* take years to declutter. I went so slowly at first - I didn't think so at the time, but I do now, looking back. Not much longer now....
Hope yours goes well - thats great about the possible £150 savings.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
you are doing brilliant gill - £150 into savings would be amazing! When do you find out more about what is happening with your job?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi SH - contract is until end of the month, the jobs I have been told about are because of restructuring so that should all shake out by then and I'll be able to apply. Otherwise, there is still lots to do, so I'm hoping the contract will get extended anyway.
Have been playing with my birthday present off DS, only 2 weeks late! A new MP3 player, with a video screen and everything. Apparently the one he ordered was out of stock so now they've sent a better one for the same money, and he used my link so I get cashback too!Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Hi Gill and all, sounds like it's been a good week
Christmas shopping though  now that is scary!
As for blackout curtains - I made mine, but as attached lining - not separate, so had them drycleaned. I wouldn't recommend it though, as they came back with little holes in the lining where it must have stuck together and fused, then pulled apart...... holes in blackout curtains are not ideal....
Must remember to make separate linings next time. Hope you have a good weekend x0 -
Yesterday was a very odd day; woke up really early and couldn't get back to sleep so was ironing at 5am.
Had 2 lots of washing done by 9 but it was raining so no way of getting it dry, sat down with a cuppa, and fell asleep. Felt really 'woozy' all day. Did bits of shopping, picked up the chest of drawers from junk shop but couldn't really shift myself to do anything else.
So spent £35 in total, but £5 was on craft stuff and boxes to put craft stuff in, it really needs to be more organised, so later today, will try and sort it all out.
Have got cards to make for a few birthdays, and a silver wedding, so that will motivate me.
Also need to put some music on new MP3 player thing. It holds 8gig so thats a fair amount of tunes. I can't download podcasts on this netbook which is a bit annoying, so will have to work out a way of doing that.
Off to local shops to see if there's any decent fresh veg around, and then back to sort out craft stuff while watching the match.
Mum gets back today, and has told me her flight gets in at 8pm, but as she's leaving Germany at 7:20 its more likely to be 9pm so need to look it up.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0
