Race for life sounds good. Have wondered about whether to enter myself. Not sure I could get enough sponsors - and could only walk at best!

Being able to pay off Provident sounds really good... Well done you

Good luck with the Race for Life training. When I started running - only about 5 years ago - I couldn't run to the top of the road without going into respiratory arrest! :D Now I regularly run and am doing 9 miles on Sunday - so if I can - you can ;)

Glad to hear that in just a short month, money worries have eased. Have a good day :)

Last year I walked it, this year I hope to run at least some of it. They don't mind how much sponsorship you get. I think I collected about £40 last year, just from friends and family, but some people in work just put in the money they'd saved by going out for a walk at lunchtime.

    Phone call to Provident today.

Go for it! They're good fun as well, lovely atmosphere.

Other good news I've paid off Provident. The balance was £158 and it was £136.66 to pay it off so got £20 back in Early settlement discount.

Have taken weekend money out, going to stick to £50 for groceries. Should be OK. Will be doing some fresh veg shopping and butchers, but don't need too much supermarket stuff.

Have bought the first toiletries since Christmas, shows what a stockpile I must have had - it's not that we're dirty or anything.

    Jobs to do today

    Kitchen -done
    Bathroom - done
    Kitchen cupboards
Bedroom - find homes for everything
    Shopping
    Water 'crops'

Two of my tomato plants have flowers on them, so hopefully should get a decent crop. I'm too impatient, I want them to grow NOW!!

Kitchen and bathroom cleaned, walking down to local shops now, butchers and greengrocers, then will do Iceland trip later.

    Have spent
    £1.35 in greengrocers
    £2.40 in butchers
£3.49 having a pair of shoes heeled (DT you inspired me to sort them out)
    £9 in Iceland
    £2.50 in Home & Bargain

..so still have change from £20! Not bad as my budget was £50.
Still to get, cold meat for DS sandwiches and maybe some fruit in the week.
I think I've planned it out, have got pasta and rice etc. to pad meals out, but even if I do realise I've forgotten something I've still got £30. And I had £10 left at the end of last week, which is in a little 'pending purse' at the moment. I carry it round with me for a week or so and then if I don't use it, it goes into the sealed pot.

The ONLY way I can control spending is to use cash. I have a list, and next to each thing is roughly the cost. Then depending on whether I'm feeling rich or not, I add a tenner to the bottom and add it all up. I then aim for the original figure.

I occasionally have to buy stuff in the week, but generally manage, mainly because I have a good greengrocer and butcher, so can just buy what I need. Not many places you can just buy 1/2lb mince, or just 6 sausages and the quality still be good too.

Have had a mad week as DS has gone from moaning that he hasn't got a girlfriend to going out loads and getting calls from 3 different ones, including an ex who has since had a baby with someone else. And guess which one he wants to carry on seeing?

It's his birthday soon and he has asked for a steering wheel thing for the Xbox. Hopefully can get it on Amazon as have loads of lightspeed points. Then I can start doing surveys in earnest for Christmas.

Should get paid today, but there is some sort of delay.

Going for a walk/jog with friend straight from work tonight. Start of getting into practice for Race for Life.
