Cake was good, home made cake even better.

Today I'm working from home, if I can actually get the laptop to connect to my wireless network. Otherwise there is other stuff I can be doing.

MUST NOT GET DISTRACTED BY DOING STUFF LIKE CRAFTS!!!

I'm also going to look at sorting out the car insurance so that sister can drive my car until it goes back. She may as well use it and it would be better to park it on their drive too. It should be quite straightforward.

Hope your mum is OK, as you say she's in the best place and it's good you are feeling more reassured. Sure money stuff will sort itself out after a month or so, different pay dates and stuff are a pain!

Am treating myself to a little break, have a cup of *real* coffee and a little biscuit.

Feel like I've had a productive morning.

Sorted out insurance for sister, its so much easier now they check it all with DVLA.

Managed to get access to work system, so have done some induction training, and also chased up a few hotel bookings etc.

Submitted fuel receipts for last week,so I can get the money back.

This afternoon, I'm going to be looking at some of the documentation that's been written, so have downloaded that ready.

I'm going to visit Mum this afternoon, and then later on, will pick sister up from work in my car, take her to the hospital, and then she can drop me off at home.

I've also put all the makings for a casserole in a dish, so will chuck that in the oven so its ready when I get back.

So far have resisted the temptation to do crafts, but will do some card making later this evening.

It's a beautiful day here, so am thinking about printing out the documentation and sitting outside with it - I don't have the authority to change it anyway, its just for me to see if it makes sense as a newcomer.

Hope everyones having a good day.

Hi Gill - glad you had someone with you when you arrived at hospital. It definitely sounds like your mum is in the right place so I can understand how that would give you some peace of mind. Look after yourself tho... A lot going on for you at the moment

    Evening

I now have my *very own* laptop and a dongle thingy for connecting to t'internet (for work purposes of course) so am hopping on here for a bit.

    Mad mad busy with work.

Hospital have managed to get Mum stable, but have told me that they have no intention of letting her go home 'any time soon'. That's a bit of a relief as I need to know that she is safe to be left, if that doesn't sound too harsh.

Hire car is lovely and comfortable, and I've already been reimbursed for the petrol I put in my own car last week. So not out of pocket so far!

Get paid on working day of the month, so shouldn't be too bad as my info was in time to meet payroll deadlines and I'll get 2 weeks pay. If I can keep spending to a minimum in September that shouldn't be too big a hit on the savings.

    Spends so far this week:-

69p on a bottle of flavoured water
£5.30 on the M6 toll ( will get that back)

    ..... and that's it!

I just had a very sad phone conversation with Gill, thankfully she had my phone number from when we met up earlier in the year.

She asked me to post on mse to let you know that her mum passed away yesterday. Gill was off on her new job, but drove home yesterday evening. Its devastating news, but she's coping because, as she said, you have to.

We didn't speak specifically about mse, but I'm thinking she won't be back on here for a little while now, and hopefully she'll leave it until she's ready. She and her sister are doing the things you need to do at this time.

Sending love and support to you, Gill.
